Team Preview
Few programs in Louisiana high school baseball have been as consistent over the last several seasons as Lutcher High School, and the 2026 Bulldogs look poised to make another deep postseason run. After coming just four outs away from reaching the state championship game last spring, Head Coach Ryan Jensen’s club returns a strong nucleus of experienced arms and versatile position players, giving Lutcher one of the deepest pitching staffs in Class 4A.
The Bulldogs’ greatest asset entering 2026 will be their pitching depth and versatility. With multiple proven arms returning and several underclassmen capable of stepping up, Coach Jensen has the luxury of several quality options on the mound — a rarity at the high school level.
If there’s one area that will determine Lutcher’s ceiling this spring, it’s offensive consistency. The Bulldogs showed flashes last year, but too often struggled to produce timely hits in big moments. An increased focus on aggressiveness and applying pressure on opposing defenses could be the key to unlocking their full potential in 2026.
Top Returning Players
-Senior C/RHP Bryson Keller
2025 Offensive Stats: (.315 AVG / .403 OBP / 38 H / 4 HR / 38 RBI)
2025 Pitching Stats: (28.1 IP / 6-4 / 2.93 ERA / 27 K / 13 BB)
The emotional leader of the Bulldogs, Keller was a steadying force both behind the plate and on the mound last season. Despite being forced into more innings than expected due to injuries, he rose to the occasion — saving his best outing for Game 3 of the State Semifinals, where he gave Lutcher every chance to win. His continued development this summer as both a hitter and pitcher makes him one of the premier two-way players in the region.
-Senior LHP/OF Cameron DeRoche
2025 Offensive Stats: (.280 AVG / .360 OBP / 25 H / 11 RBI)
2025 Pitching Stats: (61 IP / 8-1 / 1.37 ERA / 75 K / 32 BB)
DeRoche stepped into the No. 1 starter role following Marshall Louque’s injury last season and delivered a dominant campaign, particularly down the stretch and in the playoffs. The reigning All-State selection has matured into a poised competitor who gives Lutcher a true ace. Offensively, DeRoche took a big leap this summer and is expected to anchor the middle of the lineup in 2026.
-Senior SS/RHP Dane Bodin
2025 Offensive Stats: (.272 AVG / .398 OBP / 27 H / 27 RBI / 17 SB)
2025 Pitching Stats: (56.2 IP / 4-4 / 1.48 ERA / 58 K / 34 BB)
A smooth defender and one of the better all-around shortstops in the state’s 2026 class, Bodin quietly put together an outstanding season. His record on the mound doesn’t tell the full story, as run support was often lacking in his outings. Expect Bodin to once again be one of Lutcher’s most dependable two-way performers.
-Senior 1B Gage Poche
2025 Offensive Stats: (.296 AVG / .421 OBP / 28 H / 7 2B / 24 RBI)
A steady run producer from the left side, Poche brings toughness and competitive at-bats to the middle of the lineup. He’ll be counted on for leadership and consistency in run-producing situations this spring.
-Junior C/UTL Dalton St. Pierre
2025 Offensive Stats: (.287 AVG / .438 OBP / 33 H / 10 2B / 2 HR / 23 RBI)
Served primarily as the team’s DH last season while also filling in behind the plate when Keller pitched. St. Pierre has as much offensive upside as anyone in the program — the next step for him will be finding that consistent production game to game.
-Junior LHP/OF Dylan Delaneuville
2025 Pitching Stats: (13 IP / 1-0 / 0.53 ERA / 20 K / 7 BB)
Before suffering a season-ending injury on March 1, Delaneuville was throwing as well as anyone on the staff. His rehab went smoothly, and the Bulldogs expect him to return as a major weapon on the mound.
-Junior RHP/UTL Davis St. Pierre
2025 Pitching Stats: (23 IP / 2-0 / 2.43 ERA / 22 K / 9 BB)
Logged valuable innings in relief last season and is projected for a much larger role this spring. He underwent labrum surgery (non-throwing arm) in the offseason but should be a key factor on the mound once fully healthy.
-Junior INF/RHP Jayce Ferrygood
A skilled defender with good athleticism who gained valuable varsity experience in the second half of the 2025 season. Ferrygood’s glove makes him vital to Lutcher’s defensive alignment, and his continued offensive growth could help balance the lineup.
Underclassmen to Watch
-2028 Beau Guzman
Big, physical frame with noticeable raw power at the plate. One of the program’s harder throwers for his age — just needs to refine his command.
-2028 Baylen Millet
Competing for innings this spring. A projectable arm with upside as he continues to mature.
-2028 Will Boyd
Impressed over the summer with noticeable strides both defensively and offensively. Once fully healthy, he’s expected to play a significant role.
Outlook
The 2025 season ended in heartbreak — just four outs away from the finals — but rather than dwell on disappointment, Lutcher used it as fuel. This group returned to work with renewed focus over the summer, and the results were encouraging across the board.
Coach Jensen’s squad enters 2026 confident, experienced, and hungry. With what might be the deepest pitching staff Lutcher has had in years, the Bulldogs’ success will hinge on whether the offense can consistently produce and support that elite group of arms.
If the bats come alive and the team continues to embrace its aggressive, team-first approach, Lutcher could once again find itself back in Sulphur — and this time, looking to finish the job.
