2026 Team Preview: St. Michael the Archangel High School

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

The 2026 high school baseball season is right around the corner, and as always, excitement is building across the Bayou State. Programs from every corner of Louisiana have been hard at work this offseason—honing skills, building chemistry, and setting their sights on a return trip to Sulphur for the LHSAA State Championships. As is tradition, the state is once again loaded with talent, from seasoned veterans to rising underclassmen ready to make their mark.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll take an in-depth look at teams from every region as part of our comprehensive season preview series. These previews will lead right up to Opening Day, followed by the release of our Power 25 Rankings and the return of our always-popular Game of the Week feature.

Throughout the spring, Prep Baseball Louisiana will continue to be your one-stop source for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Be sure to check back weekly for our Player and Pitcher of the Week honors, updated Power 25 Rankings, and plenty of additional coverage highlighting the stories, performances, and programs that make Louisiana baseball special.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.  If you have not received a questionnaire and would like to fill one out, please email State Director Alex Armand at [email protected]

Team Preview

The St. Michael Warriors enter the 2026 season looking to take another step forward under Head Coach Tookie Johnson after reaching the second round of the playoffs a season ago. While the roster will feature a youthful core, there’s still plenty of experience and leadership returning to help guide this group.

Offensively, the Warriors should be able to swing it with consistency. Seniors Parker Fife (OF/LHP) and Jude Knapps(OF) will serve as the heart and soul of the lineup, providing leadership both on and off the field. Fife is a competitive two-way player who sets the tone with his energy and presence, while Knapps brings experience and maturity to the outfield and order.

Junior Jack Boyles (1B/OF) returns as another key bat, giving the lineup depth and run-producing ability in the middle. Behind the plate, sophomore Kane Guitrau is a name to remember for years to come. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound backstop already boasts advanced physicality and tools for his age, including above-average arm strength (79 mph) and pop times between 1.94–1.96 seconds. He’s poised to make an early impact and could emerge as one of the top young catchers in the Baton Rouge area.

While pitching remains an area of concern entering the spring, St. Michael’s offensive potential and developing talent give them a chance to stay competitive in a tough 4A landscape. If the Warriors can find reliable innings on the mound, this is a group capable of returning to the postseason with a chance to make some noise.
