We’re continuing our look at the best tools in the 2015 class and shift the focus to pitchers this week. Listed alphabetically below are the arms in the Prep Baseball Report coverage area with the best fastballs. It’s not all about velocity as life and command factor into a fastball’s grade.

Michael Brettell, RHP, Crossley SS, ON
Brettell currently sits at 86-88 mph and topped out at 89 mph, but continued to get strong with his fastball throughout the year and should be able to add velocity down the road. He works from a 3/4 arm slot and creates good, downward plane. His four-seam fastball has some arm-side run while his two-seamer gets good sinking action. He works both sides of the plate and complements his fastball with a slider that ranges from the high 70s to low 80s.
