The Missouri high school baseball season kicks off on Mar. 14, opening day for regular season action under MSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Missouri Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Coach’s Insight: “Our team is built on hard work, dedication, and a strong baseball IQ, with players who lead by example and set the standard for commitment. There is a mix of physical specimens with room to grow, high-level athletes, and versatile players who can contribute in multiple positions. The pitching staff has depth, featuring arms with great movement, solid velocity, and the potential to improve command and consistency. The roster also includes players with a bulldog mentality, high-quality stuff, and a feel for the game that makes them valuable assets on the mound and in the field. Work ethic is a defining trait, with several players who have made significant strength gains and continue to push themselves every day. While some need to refine mechanics, develop more consistency, or add strength, the overall team culture is built on grit, perseverance, and the desire to improve. With continued development, this group has the potential to be both competitive and resilient, making them a tough opponent on any given day. Our team's biggest "weakness" is really just untapped potential waiting to be unlocked. While some players are still developing strength, flexibility, and mechanics, that means there’s a high ceiling for growth—as they continue to train, their performance will only improve. Pitchers may be refining their command and consistency, but they already possess great movement, velocity, and competitiveness, giving them the tools to dominate once they fine-tune their approach. Offensively, some players are still filling out their frames and refining their approach at the plate, but that means there’s room to add power and improve efficiency, making the lineup even more dangerous as the season progresses. Defensively, versatility is a huge asset, and as players settle into their roles, the team will become even more reliable under pressure. Some may have gotten a late start in training, but their work ethic and commitment to catching up make them valuable contributors who will only continue to rise. This team isn’t defined by weaknesses—it’s defined by growth, development, and the drive to maximize its potential.” – Cie Arell, head coach
