Highfill Shines; Apex Forces the 'If Necessary' Game

In game 1 of the East regional, Fuquay Varina scored 11 runs with 14 hits; however, Apex’s RHP Sam Highfill (2019, NC State Commit) shut out Fuquay Varina on 2 hits in game 2 to give Apex a 2 to 0 win and even the regional play off at one win apiece.
Both of Apex’s runs came in the fourth inning. The second batter in the inning, Cameron Roof (3B, 2018) singled and a two base error allowed him to reach third base. Wyatt McInnis (1B, 2018) followed with a double to drive in Roof.
