Brandon Martorano (Christian Brothers Academy, NJ) has been on the prospect radar a long time. In 2012, USA Baseball held its first 14U National Team Development Program, acting as a feeder system for the 15U National Team. On that original roster were Martorano and several other top prospects in the 2016-2017 classes. That was when the catcher realized he could hang with some of the country’s best players.

“That kind of opened my eyes to everything—the elite level of baseball in the country,” he said. “To get out of Jersey and play against guys from all over the country, the best of the best. It really opened my eyes, being able to hold my own.”
