Scouting Report
WNY All-Star Game (September 24, 2017) Campanelli stands 6-foot-1, 165-pounds with a lanky loose build, frame that will fill-out. In the batters-box his setup is slightly crouched, narrow lower half with the barrel flat bouncing loosely on his shoulder. On the pitch he uses a knee lift for timing, slight load, barrel powers forward on a short path. Barrel plane is uphill, shows consistent contact with a high full extension. Exit velo was 85 mph. Defensively he is starting to separate himself as one of the top defenders in the state. He uses a very active lower half, pronounced prep steps putting his body in a successful position, clean and quick with the glove-to-transfer, clean short release from a power 3/4-slot with plenty of carry and arm-strength (84 mph). Only knock on Campanelli currently is lack of high-end fast-twitch foot-speed. If he puts extra work towards improving his acceleration and agility, the ceiling could be endless for the 2019 MIF.
