The 2017 Big Apple Preview took place Oct. 15 in Staten Island, NY. Over 60 high-end prospects took the field showing off their skill-sets in front of our PBR NY scouting staff and finally the smoke as cleared. (NYC Preview Oct 15, 2017) Dutra stands 6-foot-0, 200-pounds, solidly build 1B. At the plate the bat projects for this 2021 graduate. From the left-side, slightly open stance, back load for timing getting barrel upright. Short to the ball, level barrel through the zone, short compact extension, 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively solid with size around the bag, fields ball out in front with a release from a high 3/4-slot. Overall, there's a lot to like with the bat from the left-side, projects with power to all fields, especially as he continues to develop his strength and bat-speed. Fun player to watch over the next four years.
