School: St. Marguerite D’Youville
Ranking: No. 3 in Ontario's 2016 class
Evaluation: Virdo is a big, strong righty that is starting to come into his own on the ball diamond. Pitches with confidence and a high compete level. The 6-foot-4, 2016 grad has seen his fastball climb into the mid-80s with much more to project with his quick arm action. Virdo’s breaking ball has a chance to be a putout pitch with his late bite and good hard downward tilt. His changeup is continuing to improve and gets good arm-side run when he gets out front with it. All the makings point towards Virdo being very successful over the next two years of his high school career. A few minor mechanical adjustments and Virdo may be off and running. He will next be on the mound in March pitching for Team Canada during their spring training trip to Florida.
