Ontario Insider: Nick Iverson, JNT Final Trip of Year & Familiar Faces for Team Canada

There are two powerhouse provinces when it comes to baseball in Canada.
Ontario and British Columbia have produced the most college players, the highest number of professionals, and have historically found more success with America’s favourite pastime north of the border.
That’s no knock on any of the other provinces. They have higher populations, the west coast has more ideal weather for outdoor sports, and they both have more facilities and instructors than the majority of the other areas of the country. It makes sense that ballplayers from other areas might flock to programs in Ontario or British Columbia.
But why would one player from Oakville pack up his things and move to Langley for baseball?
“The Fieldhouse Pirates were great and they gave me a lot of opportunities, but you get to play a lot more games out in BC,” 17-year-old right-hander Nick Trogrlic-Iverson (pictured right) said at Tournament 12. “You get to play almost a hundred more games, so there’s a little more exposure out there and better pitching instruction, so that’s why I moved…It’s mostly the weather.
