2025 Pacific Northwest State Games - 2027's Quick Hits
August 7, 2025
Last week, Prep Baseball PNW hosted the 2025 Pacific Northwest State Games at Heritage High School in Vancouver, Washington. The summer's premier baseball showcase event featured players in the 2026-2028 graduating classes, with many strong showings throughout.
The Pacific Northwest State Games event is a culmination of the year in high school baseball, bringing together some of the area's top prospects. The State Games allow college coaches to see how talent stacks up and recruit future contributors, with over 75 players from last year's event going on to make a college commitment. This year's event featured a great turnout of college coaches across the three days of workouts and gameplay.
Earlier, we released our Statistical Stories from the event, detailing leaders in various metrics. Over the next several days, we'll be unveiling our Quick Hits stories, detailing scouting notes on standout players from the event. Today, we continue our series of Quick Hits with the class of 2027. Players are listed alphabetically by last name.
2025 Pacific Northwest State Games
Quick Hits - 2027's
'27 INF Easton Aalbu (Arlington)
Versatile defender that continues to show progress at the plate & in his overall skillset. Began his showcase with great BP rounds, peaking at a 96.9 MPH and averaging a 92.7 MPH exit velocity. Can hit to all fields with some present power in a 6'1 frame. Bat translated in-game with multiple hard-hit balls. Developing arm strength in the field with a lower-intent operation defensively. Intriguing follow.
'27 C Pete Browand (Peninsula)
After showing well in-game as a part of Team PNW at the Prep Baseball Future Games, Browand displayed perhaps the best BP rounds at PNW State Games. The righty displayed a natural feel for the barrel with a flatter path, punishing every pitch he saw for a max EV of 101.9 MPH and an average EV of 99.3 MPH. Power plays to all fields with a taller setup in the lower half. Ran a personal-best 7.01 60-yard dash time & set another new best with a 1.89 second pop time. Developing skillset defensively, but the bat allows for plenty to dream on. Browand was also in the mix for MVP of the State Games, reaching base in nearly every plate appearance and slugging two home runs across the three days. Exceptional performance.

Flat approach with feel for the barrel. Peaked at 101.0 MPH & every rep was north of 97 MPH@PeteBrowand2027 | @PB_Uncommitted #PNWSG25 pic.twitter.com/IfNXoCc80P
'27 RHP Harrison Buckingham (South Salem)
Another player recently seen at the Future Games, Buckingham showed a similarly impressive arsenal on the mound in Vancouver, sitting 86-90 MPH with life on his heater up in the zone. The SL flashed plus with spin rates north of 2500 RPM at 75-78 MPH. The CH also showed the ability to be a useful pitch, particularly against left-handed hitters, sitting 80-82 MPH. Buckingham plays larger on the mound than his listed 6'1 frame, and should be one of the most sought-after arms in the '27 class now that the recruiting period has opened.
'27 OF Griffin Butler (Wenatchee)
Lean-framed 6'2 prospect showed very well metrically at this year's State Games. Began his event running a 6.88 60-yard dash time, with longer strides covering ground easily in the outfield as well. Set several new porsonal-bests in BP rounds, peaking with a 96.9 MPH exit velocity and averaging 89.3 MPH. Starts with higher hands over the rear ear, carring a heavier barrel with loose wrists through the zone. Hit to the pull side and middle of the field with an upright finish. Fluid mover.
'27 RHP Mason Christian (Willamette)
High-end '27 arm in Oregon showed ability to miss bats in his shorter in-game appearance. FB sat 86-87 MPH with 2300+ RPM, paired with a SL at 78-80 MPH that was used in all counts. Also used an occasional CH at 79-80 MPH. A 6'3 athlete, Christian displayed a quick delivery from both the wind and strech, with a longer, loopy arm path into a high 3/4 slot release. Strong lead leg block and balance through finish. High upside arm.

FB 85.3-87.9
SL 77.0-78.7
Long-levered 6'3 frame. Feel for breaking ball in any count. Intriguing follow heading into the recruiting period @MasonChr44… pic.twitter.com/wvxOWZohL1
'27 RHP Declan Crawford (Edmonds-Woodway)
Crawford has been a projectable RHP for some time now, working into the upper 80's from a 6'2 frame that has plenty of room to add strength. Deliberate-paced wind with a slightly closed land creates some deception with a cross-body fire. Went back and forth with a FB at 83-87 MPH and a sweeping SL at 73-78 MPH to keep hitters off-balance. Another high-upside arm who could dominate when throwing enough strikes.
'27 INF Trey Davies (Tahoma)
6'2 middle INF type impressed in his first Prep Baseball showcase, displaying mature rounds of BP with some bat and hand speed present. Peaked with a 96.9 MPH exit velocity and a max batted ball distance of 352 feet. Highlighted his in-game performance with a pull-side home run. 7.06 second runner with smooth movements and soft hands shown defensively. 84 MPH throws across the diamond. Davies has shown well and gotten playing time as an underclassman for a talented Tahoma side, and should stick on the dirt at the next level.
'27 INF JT Girod (Central)
One of the highest-ranked '27's in Oregon and a Future Games attendee this year, Girod dominated at the plate in-game in Vancouver last week. Strong 6'0 frame always looks in control at the plate, hitting with power to all fields. Left the yard early in the week and nearly went deep a second time to the opposite field later on. Finished with 5 hits overall across 3 days of gameplay. Set new personal bests in BP rounds during the workout portion of the event with a 102 MPH peak EV and a 384 foot batted ball distance. Also set a new best with a 6.88 60-yard dash time. The Central product should be a highly sought-after player in the coming weeks.
'27 OF Kyle Goodwin (Jesuit)
Another Future Games participant, Goodwin's athleticism was on full display and stood out among his peers in Vancouver. The outfielder ran a 6.69 60-time with a quick first step and burst in the OF. Throws into the mid-80's from the outfield combined with quickness allow for the righty to play all 3 OF spots. Peaked with a 95.5 MPH exit velocity and 347 foot batted ball distance in BP rounds. Hit one of the first home runs of the week in-game with a blast to the deepest part of the yard, showcasing a quick, sudden swing. Exciting talent.

Easy operation in the box. Quick, sudden barrel into contact
Posted a 6.69 in the 60 on workout day. Centerfield profile @_kylegoodwin_ pic.twitter.com/U0ZOTwsuUB
'27 RHP Shane Haddad Jr. (Tualatin)
Medium-framed righty showed well on the mound, mixing in three pitches for strikes including a FB at 84-87 MPH. Mixed in both a CH at 78-79 MPH and a SL at 73-75 MPH. Clean operation on the mound with a drop and drive lower half and a clean arm path. Quick arm out front with momentum carried toward 1B side post-release. Commanded to the arm side with ease. Arm to circle.
'27 RHP Rylan Howe (Union)
The tall 6'4, 210 pound arm continued his dominant summer and showed why he is currently the number one ranked player in Washington's '27 class. Four-pitch mix was on display, with a unique offspeed combination of a SL/SPL/CT all thrown for strikes. Howe's velocity was up from previous looks, sitting 90-92 T92.9 MPH from a long, fluid high 3/4 release. Will be a must-follow going into the recruiting period.
'27 INF Noah Kwon (Lake Washington)
Compact-framed athlete with smooth overall game. Contact-oriented, all-fields approach at the dish with feel for the barrel. Peaked with a 95.6 MPH EV, averaging 91.6 MPH. Plus defender for age with soft hands and a quick release across, with throws up to 84 MPH. 6.96 runner in the 60. Winning player does many of the little things well and was a key player for state-champion Lake Washington this spring.
'27 INF/RHP Xzyyvn Martinez (Othello)
Strong, stocky frame with two-way talent shown all week. On the barrel from the left side in BP rounds with a 91.5 MPH average EV and a 92 percent sweet spot %. Simple approach at the plate with short stride and direct path yielded results in-game, including a double into the gap on day one. Also ran the FB up to 86.9 MPH on the mound with a SL/CH offspeed combination. Both SL and CH flashed depth and offered a different look off of the heater. Interesting follow.

'27 C/RHP Joe Mendazona Jr. (Central)
Our second-ranked 2027 graduate in Oregon impressed in a big way in Vancouver, starting with the workout portion of his event. The 6'3 backstop moved with exceptional quickness for his size with a plus arm behind the plate, resulting in an event-best 1.81 second pop time. Mendazona then put on a show in BP, carrying a heavy barrel through the zone with hand speed & blasting balls up to 100.7 MPH. Some loft present in the swing, with a 364 foot blast as the highlight of his BP rounds. 6.98 runner in the 60. Also showcased his arm talent on the mound, sitting 85-88 T89 on the mound with a lower-spin SL as his lone secondary pitch. Exceptional talent and a must-follow moving forward.
'27 INF Jake Miller (Sumner)
Ultra-twitchy, medium-framed athlete showed real ability to impact the baseball from the left side of the plate. High-intent swing operation, starts in a taller stance and rotates with a firm front side through contact. Pull-oriented approach with a 101.2 MPH peak and 93.7 average exit velocity. 7.05 second runner with enough arm strength to play middle INF moving forward. Hard-nosed style of play. Bat to circle.
'27 OF/RHP Will Prinz (Bishop Blanchet)
A standout athlete oozing tools, Prinz ran an event-best 6.55 60-yard dash time to start his event before setting another personal-best with 90 MPH throws from the outfield. Strong-framed, wide-shouldered 6-1 frame carried a quick bat with a longer path through the zone from the right side. Peaked with a 99.3 MPH exit velocity and 389 foot batted ball distance. Prinz also impressed in a two inning stint on the mound, running the FB over 86 MPH with some sink and mixing in a SL/CH as well. Plenty of tools to dream on for a top-ten player in his state class.
'27 RHP Andrew Roadman (South Eugene)
6'3 arm showed well at PNW Preseason All-State this winter and showed further gains in Vancouver. FB sat 83-86 T 87.4 MPH from an upright, long delivery. Balanced finish with controlled deceleration post-release. SL sat 71-74 MPH with consistent arm slot. Another arm to follow in a deep position pool for the PNW.
'27 C Keagan Soliza (Puyallup)
After handling the full-time catching responsibilities this spring for a talented Puyallup side, Soliza showed his mature overall skillset all week at State Games. Switch-hitter stayed under control and lined balls with an average exit velocity of 90.9 MPH and max batted ball distance of 364 feet. Incredible speed and quickness behind the plate, with a transition to the outfield possible in the future. 6.74 second runner in the 60. Quick transfer to throw with a best pop time of 1.98 seconds. Controlled the run game and arms well in-game.

'27 OF Hudson Thom (Tahoma)
Physical lefty put together one of the louder rounds of BP from the '27 class, peaking with a 101.2 MPH and averaging a 93.4 MPH exit velocity. Starts in a wider setup, with a minimal stride load and quick, direct hand path. Catches ball out front with weight carried forward. Longer one-handed finish. 6.91 runner in the 60. 5'11, 175 pound frame plays larger in-game. Bat-first player with ability to impact a game with one swing.
'27 OF Colton Worley (West Valley)
An exceptional showing metrically from the 6'6 athete, generating the best batspeed at the event at 84 MPH. Ability to drive baseball with authority when on the barrel, with a 98 MPH max exit velocity and 377 foot batted ball distance. 6.96 runner in the 60 yard dash. FB ran into the low 80's on the mound from a shorter, compact arm action.
