ROOKIE Report
What We Liked: The highly athletic 5-foot-11, 165-pounder added twenty pounds of strength over the offseason, setting the stage for a standout performance across the board. Lohsen started the event off with a bang, showcasing what might be his best tool, footspeed, by running a 6.77 60-yard dash. Keeping the momentum going, the right-handed hitter produced a comfortable round of batting practice, spraying hard line drives from gap to gap (T86 mph bat-exit velocity). Both a 26 mph hand speed and 71% sweet spot rate should translate naturally into future success in game action with a quick trigger at the plate and the ability to control the bat head. If that isn't enough, the right-handed pitcher bumped 83 mph with good carry traits from a lower height release (2320rpms). Comfortable working both sides of the plate, he was able to land an aggressive 70 mph curveball with late two-plane depth and good 11/5 tilt, too. Killed spin on a 74-75 mph changeup that faded hard to the arm-side, which has a chance to be a solid pitch down the road while rounding out the arsenal (19 inches HM AVG, 1671 rpms).
