Scouting Report

6/14/22

Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-9, 165lb frame. 7.09 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH. Wider, square stance, as the weight shifts to the backside to begin. Utilized a leg-hang stride to initiate a flat, adjustable path into the hitting zone. Recorded a T90 mph exit velocity, spraying hard contact where it was pitched while working into a stiff front side at impact. Produced a 314 foot batted ball distance with a developing gap-to-gap approach.

Defensively: The third baseman featured forward chest angles and a comfortable glove-hand, funneling softly to the midsection. Ranged in either direction with balance out in front, releasing up to 85 mph positionally (H ¾).

Pitching: RHP. Starts off the left corner; developing pace that works directionally down the slope. Held 81-85 mph on the FB (2064) with carry at the letters. Manipulated a CB/SL combination with different tilt, flashing an advanced feel for spin (2483).

2/27/22

Physical: Strong, even-proportioned 5-foot-9, 165lb frame. 7.39 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Balanced, even stance, as the hands operated calm and pre-set by the ear. Utilized a short leg lift stride to initiate the swing through a flat, bursty path into the hitting zone. High intent and dealt damage at the front of the plate. Recorded a T89 mph bat-exit velocity while staying above the ball in the approach. Liked to get extended and drive to the pull side of the field.

Defensively: The third baseman shuffled his feet around the ball, getting through from right to left at the fielding window. Solid posture and released off the backside up to 87 mph across the diamond (H ¾ slot, good arm speed).

Pitching: RHP - The righty starts off the left corner; simple delivery that repeats. OTT slot and reaches down to the glove with balance. The FB ranged 83-85 mph strikes, mostly straight out of the hand. Added a hard, downer 69-71 mph CB for swing/miss down the road, and mixed sharp sweeping SL up to 74 mph on a lateral tilt. An upper-70’s CH, still developing, rounds out the arsenal.

6/15/21

Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-9, 159lb frame with room to add strength (projection). 7.16 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Balanced, even stance at shoulder-width as he rocks back into a gather load lifting the leg and landing even, before initiating the hands through a flat path into the hitting zone. Featured a mostly lofty approach through the LCF part of the field, using tangible weight shift into an adjustable front side with leverage at times. Posted a T88 mph bat-exit velocity up to a 40% fly ball rate via Trackman Baseball, good enough for top of the order consideration as he matures (doubles power, 305 foot batted ball distance).

Defensively: The primary third baseman demonstrated a hop in the ‘prep step” arriving on his toes and on time at the fielding window with a soft glove hand. Funneled quickly into the chest, still shuffling and gaining ground at the release from H ¾ (78 mph arm, accurate). Worked well moving to the left side, fielding outside his left foot with accuracy at a low posture.

Pitching: RHP - Started off the middle of the rubber using a compact delivery and repeatable arm path into the zone from H ¾. Fluid at release and held athleticism into the downward drive after footstrike. FB entered from 81-83 mph with natural carry to the plate, missing barrels up above the hands. Added a well-spun 69-72 mph CB (T2381rpms, strikes) with hard sweep across the plate for swing/miss.

2/29/20

Physical: 5-foot-8, 140-pounds. Lean, athletic frame. 7.3 runner in the 60; 4.58 home-to-1B.
Offensively: RHH. Crouched, athletic stance with a wide base, weight starts back, bat rests on his back shoulder, brings his hands down and back on load along with a slow, small leg kick for timing Generates loft with a launch angle approach to his swing, finishes very high, good use of the lower half. Hard contact up the middle and to pull side. 80 MPH raw exit velocity.
Defensively: Starts low and stays low on approach, has his glove low early, soft hands, shuffles to release. Medium arm swing with a 3/4 arm slot.  INF - 76 MPH.
Pitching: Worked from the stretch with a high leg lift, gets into his back side with shoulder tilt as strides out to an open landing pulling through to a balanced flat back follow through. Long arm action to a high 3/4 release. FB: T78, 76-78 MPH. Arm side run. SL: 69-71 MPH. Tight short break. CH: 72-72 MPH. Good sell with some fade down.
