Tennessee HS Team Preview: Anderson County Mavericks

The 2025 Tennessee high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at the state tournament championships – but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

2025 OUTLOOK

+ The Anderson County High School baseball program finished 2024 going 24-12 and was eliminated by Union City. They return 5 starters and 7 pitchers this spring. 

The senior class returns five impact players that will lead a veteran team in 2025. 2025 MIF/RHP Alex Bond will be the starting shortstop and big arm on the mound. He earned All-State honors last spring. 2025 C Ty Wilson returns as the starting catcher and All-District player. 2025 OF Trent Strickland is one of the big bats in the lineup which earned him All-District honors. 2025 Roane State CC commits INF Reece Willkerson and OF Easton Beaty were both All-District players and will help bolster a potent lineup. 

In the junior class, two impact players return. 2026 UTL Will Ridenour saw lots of playing time last year that earned him Super Sophomore honors. 2026 INF/LHP Daniel Unthank was also a Super Sophomore and will look to lock down the first base position and give important innings on the mound. 

The sophomore class, two players look to carve out roles for themselves. 2027 OF Jackson Harris will look to add depth in the outfield and provide a left-handed bat in the lineup. 2027 C/UTL Nolan Benson will provide depth at the catcher position and hit in the middle of the lineup. 

Anderson County brings back a veteran team this spring that is coming off a 24 win season. They are in one of the tougher districts in 3A baseball that includes Gibbs who is consistently one of the best teams in that classification. It will be interesting to see if this veteran group can make the jump past the district to the regional round of the playoffs.
