Thursday night saw a showdown between Broadway and Skyline at the fun Front Royal venue known as Bing Crosby Stadium. Skyline tabbed junior righthander Ryan Curl for the start and Broadway went with senior lefty Hunter Deavers. A back and forth tight game took place, with Skyline ultimately walking it off to win, 5-4. Curl tossed 5 innings and struck out 8 while multiple Hawk hitters had 2 hits each in the win. Junior Bransen Hensley (West Virginia) had a big offensive night for the Gobblers, but was not enough to push his team to victory.

Broadway 

 

 

 

 

Bransen Hensley SS / RHP / Broadway, VA / 2024 Hensley is a West Virginia commit and has an athletic frame. At short, he is quick and rangy, arm is currently average to slightly above, hands are quick. At the plate, hits from the left side from a relaxed open stance. Very strong at contact and uphill through it. Quick bat with gap power present to all fields. Quick on the bases and speed plays.

Ryan Curl RHP / 1B / Skyline , VA / 2024 Curl is 6-0 with an athletic frame. Simple delivery, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot from a longer loose arm action. Fastball was 83-85, touching 86, mostly just sat at 85 early. Held that velocity all game, still working at 84-85 in the fifth inning. Pitch has some late boring action to armside and he got swing and misses with it up and in. Best offspeed pitch was his change-up, which is one of the best in the state. Great armspeed, pitch was 74-77 with a lot of late fade to it. Its a swing and miss pitch and he has a lot of confidence in it, throws it in any count to righties and lefties. Slider was 73-74 and barely used, has some late 10/4 break to it.
