Alabama Diamond Notes: Week 6

The Alabama Diamond Notes will showcase standout performances from across the state, based on nominations from high school coaches. Each Wednesday throughout the high school season, we will recognize position players, pitchers, and two-way players who delivered impressive performances during their team's games. A special thank you to the many coaches who submitted nominations this week. The following stats reflect games played from March 24th-29th.

Corbin Driskell C / RHP / Southside, AL / 2025The Marion Military CC recruit continues a strong 2025 season as he went 5-12 (.417) last week with a home run and a triple. He drove in six runs and finished the week with a .611 OBP. On the mound he was 1-0 after allowing two hits over seven innings. He struck out six and allowed one run. |

Myles Johnson OF / RHP / Madison Academy, AL / 2025Johnson, an Eastern Kentucky recruit, was 5-12 (.417) a week ago with a home run and three doubles while driving in four runs. On the mound he struck out six over seven innings and allowed one earned run. |

Jordon Lankford OF / RHP / Geraldine School, AL / 2028The freshman was 6-11 (.545) a week ago with a home run and a triple. He drove in 11 runs and also scored six times to go with eight stolen bases. He finished the week with a .750 OBP. |

Ethan Simmons SS / Cottonwood High School, AL / 2026The uncommitted junior shortstop hit .700 (7-10) last week with two triples and two doubles. He finished the week with an OBP of .727 while driving in eight runs. |

Hudson Oliver OF / LHP / Guntersville, AL / 2028Oliver, a freshman, was 7-17 (.412) last week with two doubles and two triples. He drove in six runs and also scored six times. On the mound, he went four innings with five strikeouts to record a save for the Wildcats. |

Cam Gentle RHP / SS / Guntersville, AL / 2025The senior UAH recruit was 6-11 (.545) with a triple and three runs driven in while also scoring five times. On the bump, he tossed three innings of no-hit baseball while striking out two. |

Cooper McNutt C / SS / Haleyville , AL / 2025McNutt, an uncommitted senior catcher, was 7-9 (.778) last week as the 4A No. 6 Lions improved to 15-6. He had two doubles and five runs driven in while scoring four times as well. |

Hudson Smith C / SS / James Clemens, AL / 2027Smith, a sophomore, was 6-11 (.545) last week for the James Clemens Jets. He had two doubles to go with four walks during the week while driving in six to go along with a stolen base. |

Ian Berry OF / C / James Clemens, AL / 2025An uncommitted senior outfielder, Berry hit an even .500 (5-10) last week with a home run as the Jets went 2-2 for the week. Berry also walked twice and scored five runs. |

Brooks Rhodes OF / RHP / James Clemens, AL / 2026Rhodes was 4-9 (.444) a week ago with a double and three runs driven in. The uncommitted junior outfielder walked three times and scored two runs. |

Cooper Pennington RHP / 1B / Shelby County , AL / 2026The uncommitted junior had a huge week in a two-way role for the Wildcats. Offensively, he was 6-12 (.500) with two home runs and two doubles. He drove in seven runs and scored four times. On the mound, he tossed a no-hitter against Boyd-Buchanon (TN) going six innings with ten strikeouts and no runs allowed. |

Cale Blevins 3B / Shelby County, AL / 2026An uncommitted junior third baseman, Blevins was 9-13 (.692) last week with a home run and seven runs driven in. He also scored four times and played solid defense at the hot corner. |

Dillon Adkins OF / LHP / Bob Jones, AL / 2025Adkins, an uncommitted senior, continues to swing the bat well for the 7A No. 3 Patriots as he went 7-11 (.636) last week with three doubles and four runs driven in. He also walked twice, scored four runs and swiped five bags. |

John Luke Stephens SS / RHP / Gulf Shores, AL / 2026Stephens, a Mississippi Gulf Coast CC recruit, was 5-9 (.556) last week for the Dolphins with a triple and a double. He drove in seven runs, scored once and finished with a .636 OBP. |

Jacob O'Bryan OF / Gulf Shores, AL / 2026An uncommitted junior third baseman, O'Bryan hit .500 (5-10) last week with a triple and a double. He drove in three runs and scored four times as well. |

Andrew Oelke LHP / Buckhorn, AL / 2025The Calhoun CC recruit stayed hot with the bat last week as he was 6-10 (.600) with three home runs and seven runs driven in. Oelke also scored five runs. On the mound, the southpaw went 1-0 with a five inning win against Grissom. He allowed one hit and struck out 11. |

Andrew Beaverson RHP / 1B / Hazel Green, AL / 2026Beaverson, an uncommitted junior, was 10-14 (.714) last week as the Trojans went 5-0 during that span. He had a triple and three doubles while driving in 12 runs. Beaverson also walked three times. |

Jaden Charles OF / SS / Hazel Green, AL / 2025The uncommitted senior outfielder continues to produce at a high level this season with the bat as he went 9-10 (.900) last week with a triple and two doubles. Charles drove in 11 runs, walked three times and stole three bases. |

Bryce Zimmerman SS / 2B / Hazel Green, AL / 2026Zimmerman helped the 6A No. 7 Trojans improve to 24-8 as he he hit .727 (8-11) a week ago. The uncommitted junior had two home runs and three doubles. He drove in 13 runs and walked three times as well. |

Shane Duke RHP / 1B / Madison Academy, AL / 2025The Shelton State recruit was 1-0 last week for the 5A No. 4 Mustangs. He was 1-0 (an area win) with five innings pitched and no earned runs allowed. He allowed one hit and struck out 12. |

Tanner Hermesch RHP / 3B / Bob Jones, AL / 2025The Shelton State recruit continues to give the Patriots quality start after quality start as they improved to 22-8 last week. Hitters hit only .200 against him last week as he was 1-0 with six innings pitched. He scattered five hits and did not allow an earned run while striking out 11. |

Woods Mcelroy 1B / RHP / Gulf Shores, AL / 2027The sophomore turned in a 79-pitch complete game masterpiece in an area win for the Dolphins last week. He tossed all seven innings (1-0) and allowed one earned run on four hits. He struck out two and did not walk anyone as opposing hitters only hit .160 against him. |
