SoCal Player of the Week: Tyson Heaton

Heaton faced Carter HS this week and threw a perfect game in leading Yucaipa to a 5-0 win throwing only 90 pitches on his way to perfection. Heaton’s seasons numbers have begun to catch the attention of our Player of the Year committee. He’s 7-0 with a 1.42 ERA with 62 strikeouts against just 6 walks. Opponents are hitting .185 against him in 42.1 innings pitched.

The win over Carter wrapped up a busy week for the Power 25 #19 Thunderbirds who went 4-1 with their only defeat being a 2-0 loss to #4 La Mirada.

After leading the Thunderbirds to a Division II title to close out the 2018 season,  Heaton had a busy summer participating in some of the largest scouting events over the summer where he showed his upper-80’s to low-90’s fastball to go with his outstanding breaking ball and changeup. After a resting period in the winter it appears Heaton, a longtime BYU commit, is rounding back into his dominant self of a year ago.

For his efforts, Heaton has been named the Prep Baseball Report SoCal Player of the Week for the week of the 25th-31st of March. Prep Baseball Report Salutes Tyson’s hard work both on-and-off the field.
