LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - Each week during the high school season we will announce the California Player of the Week covering the action from the previous week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Player of the Week based on recommendations from high school coaches from California. 

Continuing from previous seasons, we will also be highlighting others players from across the state in our Prep Baseball California Diamond Notes which will be released weekly. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Player of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

2025 INF Kevin Jeon of La Mirada HS has been named the California Hitter of the Week after a stellar four-day performance in La Mirada’s tournament play last week. 

The Boston College signee helped lead the Matadores to the championship game of their first spring tournament with a big offensive week. Jeon finished the week hitting .454 (5-for-11) with two home runs, three RBI, five runs scored, and a walk. In a game against the number two team in the state, Jeon was at his best, slugging his two home runs, driving in three runs, and scoring twice while playing stellar defense at third base. 

Jeon has helped La Mirada slowly climb up the Power 25 rankings to their current No. 3 spot. For the season, Jeon is hitting .400 with three home runs with seven RBI, three doubles, and has scored 10 runs for the 10-2 Matadores whose only two losses have come to the No. 1 team in the nation. 

We salute senior Kevin Jeon on earning the Prep Baseball California Player of the Week.
