VENTURA, CALIF. - The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues after a jam packed summer of Prep Baseball California events, summer travel baseball, and other opportunities to evaluate players we will be recognizing some of the top remaining uncommitted players around the state. We will be looking at players from the 2026 class and 2027 classes across the upcoming weeks/months.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, and VALD Performance provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on an intriguing 2026 player who is featured inside the Top 250 of our 2026 California rankings. We are looking at SoCal '26 INF Drew Kostich from Chaminade Prepatory High School in West Hills, Calif.. Kostich popped on our radar during the summer of 2024 with a solid first look at the Ventura County Summer ID before getting a solid live look at him during the high school fall/winter schedule. Those two looks earned him an invite to our Preseason All State event series with Kostick showing very well at the San Diego Preseason All State event and then again during another live look for me over MLK tourney weekend to kick off 2025. From there Kostich saw prominent time at Chaminade in the spring season with a solid overall performance flashing the potential in his profile and carried it into a solid summer campaign as he preps for his SR. year in the Mission League.

During the 2025 high school season Kostich faced down the high level talent in the competitive Mission League with flashes of high level success. Playing in all 28 games for the Eagles he had 92 plate appearances with 85 official at bats where he posted a .282/.330/.388 slash line for the year. He had a total of 24 hits on the spring while nine of those went for extra bases with all nine being doubles (which was tops on the team). His nine extra base hits was good for second on the squad while he drove in 16 runs to lead the Eagles with his 12 runs scored tied for third on the team.

The RH hitting Kostich uses a quiet load with his weight getting to the backside before uncorking a quick turn of his hips. His hands set low with an uphill path through the zone that looks to create impact in the air for the middle to pull side of the field. The hips rotate effectively with quality present torque and a peak rotational acceleration of 11.8 Gs while using his presently quick hands up to 21.3 MPH peak hand speed. The leveraged bat path for Kostich comes with solid present bat speed at 72.2 MPH in the swing. His batted ball profile is geared towards creating hard contact in the air posting 80% fly ball/line drive rates (60% fly ball) in the SD Preseason All State batting practice while posting loud contact. Kostich reached 100.8 MPH on his max exit velocity with an average of 94.8 MPH including a 80% hard hit rate playing to the impact potential for power in his profile as he continues to mature as a hitter. His longest blast of the day went 379' to the pull side where he can grow into future further ball flight for realistic pull HR power.

Kostich is a strongly built 6'2 199.3 lbs. athlete at present who has room to polish his frame, but already boasts solid strength throughout. He is a sound athlete who has run a 6.9 60 yard dash while showing a solid INF arm at 81 MPH. His hands flash solid on the dirt with decent footwork, but can improve his game time instincts. If a move is necessary off the INF dirt he is plenty athletic to potentially move around the OF where his potent RH bat could profile at any of the three spots.

The flashes he has shown of intriguing offensive performance, sound athletic ability, strength to his frame, defensive versatility and more for Kostich all combine to make a well-rounded impactful profile for college programs in the 2026 recruiting class.
