Kansas Uncommitted Spotlight: 2027 Catchers

With the release of the latest update to our state rankings for the 2027 class, it’s a great time to take a closer look at some of the top uncommitted prospects in the class. Only a few months have passed since recruiting restrictions were lifted on the 2027s as they began their junior years, so there are numerous big names left on the board. Over the next few days, our staff will highlight five of the top prospects at each position, with a short breakdown of each athlete. First, we'll look at the state's top five uncommitted catchers in the class.

Colin Zimbelman C / 3B / Basehor-Linwood, KS / 2027Rankings StateRank: 35 / POS: 1
Zimbelman is one of the more athletic backstops in the class, clocking a 6.91 60 time this summer. He's got some present power at the plate as well, putting up exit velocities in the mid 90s. |

Kane Dunlavy C / 1B / Goddard, KS / 2027Rankings StateRank: 38 / POS: 2
Dunlavy, profiles as a physical, powerful prospect behind the dish. The power shows up most clearly at the plate, where the left-handed hitter has proven to be one of the best power bats in the state, running EVs up over 102 mph. |

Maddox Drumright C / RHP / Wichita Collegiate School, KS / 2027Rankings StateRank: 39 / POS: 3
Drumright is another athletic prospect at the catching spot, but has the tools to see his power numbers take a leap as he continues to add some more strength. Presently, he runs a 6.92 60 yard dash, and defensively we've seen him clock some sub-2.00 pop times. |

Connor Witt C / 3B / Shawnee Mission West, KS / 2027Rankings StateRank: 53 / POS: 4
Witt is a solid athlete, with some nice upside as he continues to add some strength to go along with good present tools. We've seen him display some pop at the plate, with exit velocities reaching just a touch under 90 mph. Defensively, he's been under 2.00 with his pop time, and has decent arm strength. |

Jaxon Pollard C / OF / Lansing, KS / 2027Rankings StateRank: 64 / POS: 5
Pollard is a physical prospect, with some of the better power numbers at his position in the state. At the plate, he's put together some loud rounds of BP for us, with exit velocites in the upper 90s. Defensively, he's got nice arm strength, and has put down pop times as low as 1.88. |
