Reno Fall ID: Quick Hits

Brett Harrison
Mountain West Supervisor

The Reno Fall ID took place on Sunday, September 14th at the University of Nevada, Reno. This event will feature a collection of promising prospects from Nevada's 2026–2030 graduating classes, each aiming to display the progress they have made over the course of the busy summer schedule.

The Reno Fall ID allowed our staff to evaluate prospects before the winter offseason. The event served as an identifier for future invite-only events such as the West Coast Games, Top Prospect Games, Future Games, and more.

All highlights from the Fall ID will be promoted on PrepBaseball.com. Prep Baseball is subscribed to by nearly 1000 colleges and pro scouts across the country. All results will be posted on the site; along with players’ highlights.

RENO FALL ID: QUICK HITS

Nick Armstrong 1B / OF / Damonte Ranch, NV / 2026

The physical, Demonte Ranch product had himself a day at the plate where he led almost every statistical category that applied to him, including his setting of a new Nevada TrackMan exit velocity record 113.4 mph. Armstrong continues to impress each hanging out with us with electric batting practice sessions that see him leave the yard multiple times with relative ease following the conclusion of the event Armstrong accepted his invite to represent Nevada at the 2025 West Coast Games in Los Angeles, California.

Nathan Keith C / SS / Owyhee, ID / 2026

The Owyhee product, out of Boise, Idaho, put on arguably the events top overall performance with a mature batting practice session that saw him live in the big part of the yard with a majority of his swings registering 95+ mph exit velocities. He then followed it up with multiple events on the defensive side of the ball where he registered a 1.88 pop time, along with an 80 mph catcher velocity, a 86 mph infield velocity and a 6.93 VALD 60 time. The tools are real and they will be on full display at the upcoming West Coast Games next month in Los Angeles, California.

Matthew Bonczyk LHP / OF / Damonte, NV / 2026

Arguably the biggest winner of the event of the Reno Fall ID, Bonczyk lead the pitching portion of the event with an 84.1 mph fastball velocity that he commanded in the zone with a low effort delivery, maintaining balance and fluidity throughout his delivery. Along with his fastball, he showed off a changeup and curveball mix that he proved his ability to throw strikes. Following the conclusion of the event, Bonczyk received and accepted an invitation to represent Nevada at the 2025 West Coast Games.

Aiden Tarlo SS / 2B / Douglas, NV / 2027

Tarlo is another player that continues to see his game trend each time out with us with one of the events top offensive performances that saw him put up multiple personal best that so he continues to put the work in off the field. Along with posting new best on the offensive side he also put up new best in both the 60 yard dash where he ran a 7.10 and a new best info velocity at 80 mph. The actions continue to show confidence and there is much more to come in his game.

Brock Tholen SS / RHP / Douglas, NV / 2028

Another big winner at the Reno Fall ID was 2028 Douglas product, Brock Tholen. The two-way showed present feel for the barrel with a line drive filled batting practice session, working mostly pull side. Where Tholen shined was on the mound, earning the second best fastball velocity of the event at 82.6 mph. The intriguing secondary mix makes this a player to follow as we expect his stuff to only progress as he continues to add velocity to go along with projected size and strength gains.

Charles Tipton OF / RHP / Galena, NV / 2027

In his first event out with us, Tipton put together a standout performance where he flashed his present pull side power with a 94.1 mph TrackMan exit velocity, along with an 89.1 mph average exit velocity. His athleticism was on display as well, posting a 7.04 second 60 Time. This is another player that we expect to put together a big Junior campaign for Galena.

John Burns OF / 3B / Galena, NV / 2027

Burns continues to impress each time out with us and yesterday at the Reno Fall ID was no different. His confident presence in the box helped him produce a new personal best exit of velocity of 95.6 mph and new personal best average acts velocity of 88.3 mph. His ability to consistently find the barrel with flashes of power to the pole side, make this junior primed for a big junior campaign with Galena.

Noah Young SS / OF / Bishop Manogue, NV / 2028

The 2028 has continued to impress each time out with us. Already set to attend the inaugural Super Sophomore Games, Young has the actions you look for in a young player that we expect to only continue trending as he adds size and strength to his game. Their will be a lot to like over the next few years with this one as he adds size and strength to his frame.

Kadin Richhart LHP / 1B / Reed, NV / 2026

Measuring in at a Prep Baseball Verified 6-foot-5, 195.6 lbs., Richhart had the Prep Baseball Nevada staff intrigued with his three pitch mix that featured a fastball that cruised in the low 80’s as well as a curveball that spun up to 2786 rpm. The breaking ball did show more loop, but the adjustments to make it work better off the fastball would not be very much. The changeup is still developing, but the natural heaviness is there with more to come in his complete arsenal, especially as he adds muscle to his lean, wiry frame.

Chase Helmholz SS / RHP / Reno, NV / 2028

Helmholz continues to impress each time out with us as he shows off his confident actions on both sides of the ball to go along with his lean, projectable frame. Reno High School has an extensive lineage of standout shortstop and Helmholz looks like he will be the next in line after current shortstop and Future Gamer, Braden Jones. This will be a player to keep on your radar over the next few years as he continues to develop physically and we expect to see his game parallel that growth.

Landon Hassett 3B / RHP / Bishop Manogue, NV / 2027

Another standout athlete out of Bishop Manogue, Hassett continues to prove himself as a player to follow in Nevada’s 2027 Class. The present tools paired with the projectable frame where he stands at 6-foot-2, 160 lbs. makes this a player to follow this fall and heading into a big spring season where we expect him to be a key contributor for the Miners.
