The Mississippi Diamond Notes is back for 2025 and will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance. 

Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

MISSISSIPPI DIAMOND NOTES: WEEK 4

Jarvis Woody RHP / SS / Ridgeland, MS / 2025 Woody picked up our Pitcher of the Week honor after throwing a no hitter versus Brandon. The Pearl River CC signee has 9 strikeouts on the evening as well!

Owen Simmons RHP / Columbia Academy, MS / 2025 Simmons threw 6 innings in a win over Seminary, allowing 4 hits, 0 runs, with 15 strikeouts. He also hit .500 on the week with a home run, double, and 6 runs batted in.

Reed Duncan 3B / OF / Columbia Academy, MS / 2026 Duncan threw 6 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 earned run, with 11 strikeouts in a win over Hartfield Academy. Also collected a big save  versus Purvis!

Logan Buckley LHP / 1B / COLUMBIA ACADEMY, MS / 2026 The uncommitted lefty threw 6 hitless innings in the Cougars win over Purvis, allowing 1 run, with 11 totals strikeouts!

Hunter Harper 1B / Vancleave High School, MS / 2025 Harper threw a complete game shutout over Pascagoula, allowing 4 hits with 8 strikeouts. He also went 4 fot 9 at the plate with 6 runs batted in.

Corbyn Clayton SS / RHP / Pontotoc, MS / 2026 Clayton threw an 8 inning complete game in a win over Clarksdale, allowing 3 hits, 0 earned runs, with 13 strikeouts. He also went 6 for 12 at the plate with a double and 6 runs batted in.

Drew Stanton C / OF / Myrtle Attendance Center, MS / 2028 Stanton went 3 for 3 at the plate in 2 game with 2 home runs, 4 walks, and 6 runs batted in. He also threw a 4 inning no hitter versus Jumpertown.

Rod Davis Jr. RHP / FLORENCE HIGH SCHOOL, MS / 2025 Davis Jr. threw a 6 inning no hitter in a win over North Pike. The Holmes CC recruit had 12 strikeouts on the night!

Trey Myers SS / OF / Mize, MS / 2026 The MS Gulf Coast CC recruit went 7 for 9 on the week witha double, 6 walks, and 8 runs batted in.

Parker Helton OF / Picayune, MS / 2025 Helton picked up our Player of the Week honor after collecting 9 hits in 11 at bats out of the 2 hole including 2 triples, a double, and 7 runs scored.

Landon Hawkins SS / RHP / SUMRALL MIDDLE SCHOOL, MS / 2025 Hawkins, a Pearl River CC signee, narrowly missed being named POW after going 7 for 9 with 2 home runs, 3 stolen bases, and 6 runs batted in last week.

Logan Flaskamp / Southeast Lauderdale, MS / 2025 Flaskcamp went 4 for 10 on the week for the Tigers including a home run, double, and 4 runs batted in.

Jackson Hood 3B / SS / CHOCTAW COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL, MS / 2025 Hood threw a 7 inning gem, allowing 3 hits, 0 runs, with 17 strikeouts in a win over Central Holmes Christian.

TJ Rials RHP / Yazoo County, MS / 2025 Rials threw 6 innings, allowing 2 hits, 0 runs, with 13 strikeouts in a win over Benton Acadmey.

Luke Blanchard OF / Pontotoc , MS / 2025 Blanchard went 6 for 11 on the week for the Warriors including 2 doubles and 3 runs batted in.

Rowan Riley 2B / Southeast Lauderdale, MS / 2027 Riley collected 5 hits in 8 at bats on the week for the Tigers which included a double and 2 runs batted in.

Dalton Elmore OF / New Hope, MS / 2026 Elmore went 5 for 11 on the week for the Trojans, including a home run, double, and 6 runs batted in.
