The 2025 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Nick Rodgers, the Mesquite Horn Jaguars enter the 2025 season poised to build on their 2024 campaign, which saw them finish with a solid 17-10 record and a Bi-District round finish. The Jaguars' team strengths for 2025 expect to be their defense, pitching depth, and team culture. With a blend of seasoned veterans and talented newcomers, Horn is looking to make a deeper postseason run in 2025.

Key returning players include Andrew Mendoza, a versatile two-way and 2024 Second Team All-District honoree, and Jayden Collins, a standout 1B/LHP committed to Central Christian College. Rising stars Jason Segura and Izayah Bradley bring versatility and pitching depth to the roster, while underclassmen like Brian Washington and Malachi Youngblood are expected to shine in their expanded roles. The Jaguars will also benefit from the arrival of dynamic newcomers such as Zach Medrano and Ian Reyes, along with a promising freshman trio led by Michael Chavez.
