2026 RHP ALEX KING (XAVIER COMMIT)

Alex King SS / RHP / Mountain Vista, CO / 2026

King is an athletic right-hander with a fastball around 90 mph to pair with a deceptive tight slider (~2400rpm). The Mountain Vista arm consistently takes the mound with a low heartbeat and the pitchability to deliver in either a starting or relief setting. In spring 2025, King pitched to a 1.17 ERA across 24 innings with 36 Ks, and just 3 walks allowed. King is now signed to continue his baseball career at Xavier University following the spring season.

OUR Q&A:

Prep Baseball: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?

Alex: I didn’t have the highest expectations going into the recruiting process junior year. I wasn’t sure there would be any coaches reaching out August 1st, but was happily surprised when a few did.

Prep Baseball: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?

Alex: I chose Xavier for a handful of reasons. I love how the program has an incredible culture and the atmosphere is unlike any other I experienced, their academic programs are highly rated and well known, the strength of schedule is unmatched, and the coaching staff is incredibly talented in what they do and how they do it.

Prep Baseball: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

Alex: Keep working as hard as you possibly can. Talent can only take you so far and in order to play at the next level, let alone compete, it's all possible with hard work and discipline.

Prep Baseball: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?

Alex: The recruiting process started in the summer going into my junior year, but started to ramp up and get contact from coaches later in the fall. Xavier originally saw me at Futures Games at LakePoint. They continued to watch and follow along during the fall.

Prep Baseball: Was there a particular Prep Baseball tournament or showcase that helped accelerate your recruiting process? If yes, how so?

Alex: Futures Games was huge in getting me seen and contacted by more than a handful of schools.

Prep Baseball: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?

Alex: Georgetown, Cal. Berkeley, and waiting until after the summer before I made my final decision in April.

Prep Baseball: If you could steal any tool or quality from another player in the state, what would it be and who would it be from?

Alex: I would take Ethan Wachsmann’s slider because of its' extremely high spin rate and sharp, late movement.

Prep Baseball: Who is the next talented young player to keep an eye on out of your high school or travel program?

Alex: Jackson Crawford

Prep Baseball: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?

Alex: Around freshman or sophomore year was when I first realized I had the potential to play at a high level in college.

Prep Baseball: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

Alex: Going out of the state anywhere from 7-10 times a year for travel baseball and being with teammates and some of my best friends playing the game we all love.

Prep Baseball: Preview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?

Alex: I feel as if we have by far the deepest pitching staff in the state. We have the potential to go very deep into the playoffs with the help of our bats. If we don’t hit in a game, it’s going to be a 1-0 or 1-1 game. If we do hit, it could be devastating for the opponent. Having as deep of a staff as we do will propel us to have a great year and compete every game.
