2026 Fayette County Tigers Team Preview

Austin Sharp
Alabama Scouting Director

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Fayette County enters the 2026 season looking to take a step forward after a 13-18 finish in 2025 that ended with a first-round playoff loss to Etowah. Competing in a tough Class 4A Area 10, the Tigers gained valuable experience a year ago and now return a young core that should provide continuity and development as they aim to be more competitive this spring.

Offensively, Fayette County brings back several productive pieces. OF/C Brayden Unger (2026) returns after hitting .323 with 31 hits and 2 home runs, giving the Tigers an experienced bat with run-producing potential. Up the middle, SS Jake Rickman (2027) also hit .323 with 31 hits, providing consistency at the top of the order and stability defensively. In the infield, INF Brady Stocks (2027) returns after leading the team with 22 RBIs, giving Fayette County a proven run producer in the middle of the lineup. The Tigers also return a key underclass contributor in OF Christian Armstrong (2028), who hit .368 with 25 hits in 2025 and figures to be an important piece moving forward. The freshman class adds depth and upside to the roster. RHP Wyatt Weeks (2029) provides a young arm for the pitching staff, while INF Josiah Stowe (2029) and C Jeremiah Stowe (2029) add positional depth as Fayette County continues to build for the future.

Fayette County’s identity in 2026 will center on executing the small-ball game, playing with grit, and competing with toughness. As head coach Brandon Stocks summarized, the Tigers will be “PHD - Prepared, Hungry, and Driven.” With a mix of returning production and developing youth, Fayette County enters the 2026 season focused on improvement, consistency, and taking a step forward in Class 4A.
