Top Defenders Class of 2028

Jack Sutherland SS / 2B / Logan-Rogersville, MO / 2028
|
Jack Sutherland is a player who flies under the radar, largely due to Missouri’s stacked 2028 class, but he’s a legitimate defender and a solid all-around ballplayer. The 6-foot-2, 160-pound shortstop shows good athleticism, clean footwork in the infield, and simple, quick hands.
Sutherland posted an 88 Athlete Score, ranking in the 99th percentile in RSI and the 91st percentile in vertical jump. Those numbers are encouraging given his frame and projected strength gains over the next few years. With that added strength, his explosiveness should allow him to stick at shortstop at the next level.
