The 2026 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ South Panola enters the 2026 season looking to bounce back and make a deeper postseason push after a 17–11 campaign that ended in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs. Under head coach Hunter Mize, the Tigers return a competitive core with athletic position players and a high-ceiling pitching staff, giving them the tools to contend in a challenging Region 1 landscape.

Offensively, South Panola brings back experience across the outfield and middle of the diamond. Speedy Carlos Robinson and Owen Roebuck return as reliable outfield options who provide athleticism, defensive coverage, and lineup depth. Jarett Toliver anchors the middle infield, offering steady defense and a dependable bat that can set the table or drive in runs as needed. Holden Daleke adds versatility as a corner bat who can also contribute on the mound, giving the Tigers flexibility when constructing the lineup.

On the mound, the strength of this group lies in its returning arms. Anson Bright headlines the staff after an eye-opening sophomore season in which he punched out 99 hitters in just 52 innings. The 2028 right-hander brings swing-and-miss stuff and profiles as a frontline option despite his age. Left-handers Charlie Bowlin and Holden Daleke give South Panola quality balance, allowing the Tigers to present different looks throughout a series and control matchups late in games.

Additional depth comes from the 2027 class, with Bowlin and Caige Griffin continuing to develop into key contributors. The next wave is already pushing behind them, as underclassmen Miles Roberts and Cash Crumpler add long-term upside and competition within the program.

With a mix of experienced position players, impact arms, and emerging young talent, South Panola enters 2026 as a team with the pieces to take a step forward. If the Tigers can pair consistent offensive production with their strikeout-capable pitching staff, they have the potential to make noise in Region 1 and extend their stay in the Class 6A postseason.
