Prep Baseball Louisiana: 2026 Preseason Power 25 Rankings Release (#22 Archbishop Rummel)
January 15, 2026
Well, it is that time of the year again in Louisiana! The high school baseball season is getting awfully close with the first official games taking place on Monday February 9, 2026. Last season, our staff was able to see more games than ever before, in every part of the state, and our goal is to see even more teams and prospects this spring. To kick-off our wall-to-wall high school baseball coverage, we've put together the preseason release of our Power 25 Rankings. Our staff has diligently worked at ranking these teams by looking at their accomplishments from last season, key losses, and returning impact players. As with every ranking, this list will change throughout the high school baseball season, as teams start to take shape and form. Our plan is to update the Power 25 Rankings every two weeks during the season. Be sure to follow us, across all of our social media platforms, for the most comprehensive Louisiana High School baseball coverage in 2026!

Team Outlook
Rummel finished the 2025 season with a 21-14 overall record and made it to the regional round of the playoffs where their season ended at the hands of district-rival John Curtis Christian. The Raiders enter the 2026 season looking to reload with a young, talented roster that leans heavily on its pitching depth. While varsity experience is limited in spots, the Raiders have no shortage of arms and athletic pieces that could develop quickly as the season progresses. The expectation is a hard-nosed, aggressive brand of baseball that continues to define the program.
Team Strengths
-Pitching Depth: Multiple returning arms with innings logged, plus several upperclassmen ready to step into bigger roles.
-Athleticism: Versatile defenders capable of filling multiple spots as the lineup settles.
-Competitive Culture: Battle-tested in a tough district that prepares them for postseason play.
Top Returning Players
-Junior SS Ian Smith: A key returning everyday piece in the middle infield. Smith brings defensive reliability, instincts, and leadership well beyond his age. As a sophomore last season, he gained valuable experience that should translate into increased confidence at the plate.
-Senior RHP Brennen Ramon: One of the anchors of the Raiders’ staff. Ramon provides stability on the mound with varsity innings under his belt and the ability to handle meaningful roles throughout the week.
-Junior RHP Owen Nugent: A young arm who already showed he can compete at the varsity level. Nugent gives Rummel another reliable option on the mound and should take a step forward with added strength and experience.
-Senior 3B Joel Morange: A corner infielder with physicality and upside. Morange’s development on both sides of the ball will be important as the Raiders shape their everyday lineup.
Outlook
The 2026 Raiders are a developing group with real upside. While seasoning will be required due to limited varsity reps across the roster, the pitching depth gives Rummel a chance to stay competitive every night. If the lineup matures as the season goes on and the young players embrace the aggressive mindset the coaching staff is emphasizing, the Raiders have the tools to be a tough out once postseason play arrives.
