The 2026 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ Resurrection Catholic enters the 2026 season looking to build on a 14–15 campaign that resulted in a third-round playoff appearance in Class 1A. Under head coach Ryan Jordan, the Eagles return a battle-tested core that gained valuable postseason experience a year ago, positioning the program to take another step forward as it competes in Region 1A, District 8.

The lineup is anchored by a group of versatile, experienced upperclassmen who can impact the game in multiple ways. Philip Lachaussee (2026) headlines that group as a physical right-handed arm who also provides value as a position player. His two-way ability gives Resurrection flexibility both in the lineup and on the mound, and he projects as a key piece in handling high-leverage moments throughout the spring.

Wyatt Schnoor (2026) brings a similar two-way profile and is another central figure for the Eagles. Schnoor’s athleticism allows him to contribute offensively while also serving as one of the staff’s primary arms. His ability to fill multiple roles gives the coaching staff options as they manage innings and matchups over the course of the season.

Behind the plate, Brock Brown (2026) provides stability and experience at catcher. Brown’s presence defensively helps manage a deep pitching staff, while his offensive contributions lengthen the lineup. His familiarity with varsity competition makes him a dependable piece in both tight district games and postseason environments.

The middle of the field features Porter Jordan (2027), a right-handed pitcher and middle infielder whose role continues to expand. Jordan adds athleticism up the middle and projects as an increasingly important contributor on the mound as he gains more varsity experience. Sullivan May (2026) adds speed and range in the outfield, giving the Eagles defensive reliability while providing another consistent bat in the order.

On the mound, Resurrection Catholic brings back a strong collection of arms led by Schnoor and Lachaussee, with Jordan and Myles Naquin (2027) providing additional depth. One of the most intriguing pieces on the staff is Cortez King (2029), a young right-hander who already shows advanced feel well beyond his age.

King also headlines the underclass group offensively after leading the team in all major offensive categories as an eighth grader during the 2025 varsity season. His early production and confidence at the varsity level make him a key name to watch as he continues to develop.

With multiple two-way contributors, a stable catching presence, and a pitching staff that blends experience with upside, Resurrection Catholic enters 2026 as a dangerous and well-rounded club in Class 1A. If the Eagles continue to get consistent production from their veteran core while integrating their talented underclassmen, they have the pieces in place to push even deeper into the postseason this spring.
