January 12, 2026
As we look back on the 2025 summer tournament circuit here in Kansas City, we’ll be breaking down the top players by tool from each class — based on evaluations from our scouting team at Homefield and Creekside. Follow along as we take a deep dive into these players and highlight the summers they put together. Each week will feature our top five players based on each tool from the class, presented in no particular order.
Top Power Tool Class of 2027

Cooper Vais RHP / SS / Arvada West, CO / 2027

Vais continues to be a regular on our tools list, showing above-average tools across the board. The Texas commit is a top two-way prospect with elite athleticism that jumps off the stat sheet. A leadoff hitter for Elite Baseball, he consistently impacts the game with his speed and defensive ability in center field or at shortstop, though his power can sometimes be overlooked because of how dynamic he is on the bases.
That power was on full display this fall at the Midwest Premier Fall Classic, when he wasted no time by leading off the 8 a.m. game with a solo home run that stayed remarkably low off the bat. It came as no surprise to our staff, as Vais has posted exit velocities up to 106 mph in showcase settings over the past year.
