2026 OUTLOOK

+ West Point enters the 2026 season looking to regroup and reestablish momentum in MHSAA Class 5A after a 10–16 campaign a year ago. Under head coach Mitch Bohon, the Green Wave return a core of experienced varsity contributors, highlighted by multiple college-committed seniors and a growing group of underclassmen who add long-term upside. With several two-way pieces back in the fold, West Point will lean on versatility and athleticism as it competes in District 1.

Offensively, the lineup is anchored by Quenshawn Posely (2026, Miles College), a dynamic outfield presence with varsity experience and college-level tools. Posely brings speed and athleticism to the outfield while providing reliable production in the lineup, making him a key table-setter and run producer. Fellow Miles College commit Xzavier Roberson (2026) is another major piece, offering value across multiple roles. Roberson’s ability to contribute both offensively and on the mound gives the Green Wave lineup flexibility and leadership from a seasoned senior presence.

The middle of the field is stabilized by Reco Collins (2027), a shortstop/right-hander who provides defensive reliability and projects as a key offensive contributor as he continues to mature. Collins’ ability to handle premium defensive responsibilities while also offering pitching depth makes him one of the more important returners in the junior class. Sam Robinson (2027) adds another athletic option, bringing versatility as an outfielder and arm who can impact the game in multiple ways.

On the mound, West Point returns Dawson Tyler (2026) and Roberson as the headliners of the pitching staff. Tyler gives the Green Wave a dependable option capable of handling innings, while Roberson’s two-way skill set allows him to match up effectively in key situations. Their experience will be critical as West Point looks to establish consistency on the bump throughout the spring.

Additional depth comes from Braydon Pennington (2026), a catcher/right-hander who adds value behind the plate while also giving the staff another arm to work with. In the 2027 class, J’Michael Strong (2027) provides further versatility as a right-hander/infielder who could grow into a larger role as the season progresses.

The future of the program is well represented by an incoming group of underclassmen. Nasir Abrams (2029), Chase Colvin (2029), Christian Jordan (2029), and Ty Hamby (2029) each bring two-way potential and athleticism, forming a strong foundation for the next wave of Green Wave baseball. While young, this group adds depth and competition across the roster and should gain valuable varsity experience early.

With a mix of college-committed seniors, experienced juniors, and an athletic freshman class, West Point enters 2026 with the pieces to take a step forward. If the Green Wave can generate consistent offensive production and solidify defined roles on the mound, they have the makeup to be more competitive within District 1 and build momentum moving toward postseason play.
