2026 New Hope Trojans Team Preview

The 2026 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ New Hope enters the 2026 season looking to build on a 19–13 finish and a second-round playoff appearance in Class 5A, returning a compact but experienced core with multiple college-bound arms. Under head coach Lee Boyd, the Trojans bring back proven production on the mound and positional versatility throughout the lineup, positioning themselves as a competitive presence in Region 1.

Offensively, the Trojans lean on a group of multi-role contributors who can impact the game in different ways. Brayden Edmiston (Northeast Mississippi CC) returns as a physical corner bat at first base while also serving as one of New Hope’s primary arms. Dalton Elmore provides flexibility between first base and right field, giving the lineup balance and defensive stability. Jack Moore adds value behind the plate as a catcher who can also take the mound, helping manage the pitching staff while contributing offensively.

Carson Willis (Pearl River CC) is a key piece on both sides of the ball, offering reliability as a right-handed arm and athleticism in the lineup. His ability to handle high-leverage innings will be critical as New Hope navigates a challenging 5A schedule. Collectively, this senior-led group gives the Trojans experience, leadership, and a strong foundation to remain competitive in district play.

On the mound, New Hope’s strength is its returning depth of proven arms. Edmiston, Elmore, Willis, and Moore give the Trojans multiple options to mix roles and manage innings throughout the season. The presence of several college-committed pitchers allows the coaching staff to create matchup advantages and stay aggressive in postseason play.

Looking ahead, the next wave is already pushing forward. Bennon Adams, a 2028 catcher/right-hander, brings intriguing two-way upside and depth behind the plate, while Drew Glenn adds a left-handed option both in the outfield and on the mound. Their development will be important as New Hope continues to build toward sustained success beyond 2026.

With a veteran pitching staff, positional versatility, and emerging underclass talent, New Hope enters the spring as a team capable of making another postseason run in Class 5A if it can pair consistent offense with its returning arms.
