2026 High School Team Preview: Norcross Blue Devils

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Blue Devils look to bounce back from their finish a year ago as the culture has improved vastly over the past couple of months. Coach Wilkens returns a versatile and talented mix of upperclassmen and underclassmen that all play for one another. It starts with a stout core anchoring the middle-of-the-field. Senior C Will Thiry is a hard-nosed backstop and leads the offense with a present feel to hit as he brings immense value to both sides of the ball. Seniors, SS/RHP Tristan Alvarez and 2B/3B Austin Walsh supply experienced bats to the lineup which is pivotal on every given night in 6A. Alvarez also offers a high-level glove at the 6 and will be a late inning or high-leverage arm on the mound. Junior OF/RHP Matthew Isaacson is armed with present loud tools and projection as he will be a staple to the offense. Isaacson holds down centerfield as well as a spot in the rotation and the Norcross coaching staff is fully expecting a breakout year from him. Rounding out the Upperclass group in the lineup is Senior OF Brooks Kelly and junior OF/RHP Brayden Long who will look to supply consistency out of the corner outfield spots. Long offers value on the mound as well and strengthens the depth of the bullpen. Sophomore RHP/OF Wesley Thiry boasts tons of upside on the mound and paces the pitching staff as SP1. When not on the mound Thiry bolsters the lineup with a strong hit/power combo. Sophomore LHP/1B Ryan Lee follows Thiry in the rotation as a pitch-ability lefty with plenty more to project and will also look to take on a bigger role in the lineup. Junior RHP Will Goldstein polishes off the rotation and brings a veteran presence to the staff. Sophomores 3B/RHP Vincent Pirozzi and 3B/RHP Calvin Coberly will be competing for a spot at the hot corner and could be tasked with roles out of the pen. Another sophomore that has a chance to contribute is C/3B Barrett Olejnik who yields a consistent glove at a premium position. This is a team with leaders throughout which bodes extremely well squaring off against the nightly gauntlet in 6A.
