As we look back on the 2025 summer tournament circuit here in Kansas City, we’ll be breaking down the top players by tool from each class — based on evaluations from our scouting team at Homefield and Creekside. Follow along as we take a deep dive into these players and highlight the summers they put together. Each week will feature our top five players based on each tool from the class, presented in no particular order.

Top Defenders Class of 2027

Lubin Rincon SS / 3B / Shadow Creek, TX / 2027

Rincon separates himself defensively not only because of his prototypical shortstop frame at 6-foot-2, 177 pounds, but also by how effortlessly he makes everything look on the dirt. He shows simple yet efficient movements, and his 93 MPH arm allows him to make difficult plays look routine.

One thing that really stood out to us in Kansas City was the lack of wasted steps in his in-game transition from catch to throw. As seen in the video below from the All-American Game workout day, his body and hands sync up extremely well, allowing him to get the ball out quickly and naturally without forcing the action. This efficiency leads to greater consistency, fewer mistakes, and still allows him to tap into his arm strength when needed.

The Texas commit tested in the 92nd percentile among upperclassmen in the ten-yard dash, posting a 1.64. One of the most exciting aspects of Rincon’s profile is that he already shows high-level explosiveness and athleticism with plenty of room to add strength suggesting even better days ahead as he continues to develop physically to match his exceptional skill set.
