As we look back on the 2025 summer tournament circuit here in Kansas City, we’ll be breaking down the top players by tool from each class — based on evaluations from our scouting team at Homefield and Creekside. Follow along as we take a deep dive into these players and highlight the summers they put together. Each week will feature our top five players based on each tool from the class, presented in no particular order.

Top Power Tool Class of 2026

Aven Woods 1B / C / Chapman, KS / 2026

Woods earns a spot on our list after a breakout summer with Building Champions. Aven flew under the radar for a while, but his approach and production at the plate this year really caught our attention. The strength was always present, and as his offensive skills developed, he emerged as one of the top power threats in the area.

He topped the charts in max exit velocity at showcases this past year, reaching 105.9 mph twice—once at the Building Champions Scout Day and again at the Central Super Senior Games. That power translated to game action as well, and he will take it to Johnson County Community College, widely regarded as one of the top JUCO programs in the country.
