2026 High School Team Preview: Morgan County

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Coming off of a final-four appearance in 2025, Morgan County returns one of the most close-knit senior classes in the state with talent and leadership throughout the roster to give the Bulldogs the prime opportunity to finish the job this upcoming spring. It starts with senior RHP/OF Ty Tillery, who gives Coach Westmoreland a bonafide ace at the top of the rotation with mid-90s velocity and wipeout SL that grew leaps and bounds throughout last year. The Auburn commit will be a focal point in the middle of the lineup as well as the outfield when not on the bump. Senior 3B/RHP Hudson Reed was one of the top power bats in 2A last year as the Troy commit launched 12 HR and could be someone to lead the entire state in home runs this year. More senior two-way talent in OF/LHP Caylem Richardson and SS/RHP Davis Strickland will maintain huge roles for this club as mainstays in the rotation while providing middle of the order bats for the lineup as well. OF Caylem Richardson made some big strides across the board last spring/summer and the senior looks like the type of bat that can thrive in the 2 or 3 hole. The senior experience just keeps rolling with OF Jack Whitlow and INF Eli Whitlow both return to provide positional value with solid bat-to-ball skills to match. One of the few position battles this spring could be at C with multiple players vying for a full-time role including a rare underclassman on the team in 2028 C Grady Whitaker. Bullpen has the right depth to go along with all of the strengths for the Bulldogs and I’m expecting this club to play with their hair on fire from day one this spring.
