Team Preview
The Livonia Wildcats enter 2026 with renewed hunger and a unified sense of purpose. After missing the postseason in 2025, Head Coach Brandon Hilliard’s group is determined to flip the script behind a roster that can put pressure on opponents offensively and a pitching staff that has gained valuable experience. With a lineup built on contact, situational hitting, and moving runners, plus a group that has grown extremely tight-knit over the fall, expectations within the program are higher than they’ve been in years.
Defensively, the Wildcats know that improved consistency and fewer miscues will be critical to reaching their goals. But with the group’s buy-in, work ethic, and improved depth, Livonia believes it can restore pride to the program and reestablish itself as a postseason contender in 2026.
Team Strengths
-Offensive Approach: High-contact lineup focused on situational execution—bunting, hit-and-run, advancing runners, and applying pressure.
Basepath IQ: Several players possess the ability to create scoring opportunities with aggressive, smart baserunning.
-Cohesion: A tight bond formed by players coming from all corners of a large parish; strong leadership presence.
Team Weaknesses
-Defensive Consistency: Cutting down on errors and improving routine play execution remain major points of emphasis heading into 2026.
Top Returning Players
-Sophomore Connor LaCour
2025 Stats (Pitching): 20.0 IP, 19 K, 19 BB, 1.60 WHIP
2025 Stats (Hitting): 94 PA, 77 AB, .200 AVG, 11 RBI, .278 RISP
A promising two-way sophomore, LaCour gained valuable varsity experience last spring and looks poised for a breakout year. He competes in the zone, misses bats when ahead, and shows maturity beyond his age on the mound. Offensively, he showed flashes of run-producing ability and should take another step forward as his confidence grows.
-Senior Avery Bergeron
2025 Stats (Pitching): 20.1 IP, 20 K, 20 BB, 1.90 WHIP
2025 Stats (Hitting): 77 PA, 64 AB, .266 AVG, 12 RBI, .258 RISP
A steady senior presence who contributes in multiple roles, Bergeron provides toughness and versatility. On the mound, he gives the Wildcats competitive innings, and at the plate, he brings a contact-first approach that helps extend rallies. His leadership will be critical for Livonia’s push back toward the postseason.
-Junior Chad Aguillard Jr.
2025 Stats (Pitching): 10.2 IP, 21 K, 8 BB, 1.40 WHIP
2025 Stats (Hitting): 69 PA, 62 AB, .210 AVG, 8 RBI, .292 RISP, 14 SB
One of the best athletes on the roster, Aguillard impacts the game in all phases. He provides swing-and-miss upside on the mound and is a disruptive runner with 14 stolen bases last season. His ability to pressure defenses and create opportunities makes him an essential piece of Livonia’s offensive identity.
-Senior Maddox Jones
2025 Stats (Pitching): 29.0 IP, 30 K, 22 BB, 1.50 WHIP
2025 Stats (Hitting): 93 PA, 54 AB, .278 AVG, .576 OBP, 11 SB
Jones returns as one of the Wildcats’ most dynamic players. His elite on-base ability (.576 OBP) and feel for working counts make him a constant threat at the top of the order. He’s also a reliable arm who logged meaningful innings last year. Whether pitching, hitting, or running, Jones sets the tone for the team.
Outlook
The 2026 Livonia Wildcats are a motivated, unified, and hardworking group that believes its best baseball is still ahead. The expectation is clear:
Return to the playoffs, compete for a district championship, and restore pride within the community.
Coach Hilliard and his staff have emphasized culture and accountability, and the players have embraced that standard wholeheartedly. With improved defensive execution, continued growth from a seasoned pitching staff, and an offense built to manufacture runs, Livonia has a strong chance to take a major step forward this spring.
The Wildcats come from every corner of a large parish, but once they put on the uniform, they play as one—and that identity may be the team’s greatest strength of all.
