2026 High School Team Preview: Worth County

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Worth County Rams and Coach Will Smith come into the season as they look to build upon a Sweet Sixteen bid a year ago. A stout senior class leads the way with 3 returning all-state caliber players. Starting at the top with uncommitted RHP/OF Avery Kilcrease, region player of the year, who earned first team all state honors a year ago and anchors the staff as SP 1 with a fastball in the low 90’s paired with a good slider. As well leading off for the Rams as he boasts an on base threat after hitting for a .367 average along with a .462 OBP% last season. All state production comes by the way of C Brady Weaver and DH Luke Rogers. Weaver, region defensive player of the year, had only one error and threw out 23 base-runners last year as he brings high-level defense to a premium position. Rogers will be a major run-producer in the heart of the lineup once again as he hit for a .367 AVG. across the season along with a .375 AVG. with RISP. A pair of seniors in MIF/RHP Colby Griffis and MIF/3B Carson Cervantes lock down the middle infield and provide reliable sticks to the lineup with Griffis also offering value to the starting rotation. 2026 1B/DH Caleb Parten rounds out the senior class and looks to provide consistency out of the corner infield spot. Junior outfielder, Hayden Short, possesses lockdown defense in CF and will be a key middle-of-the-order piece. Junior OF Kaden Ward will be tasked with taking on a larger role this season. 2027 QB1 Lyndon Worthy will be a versatile piece for Coach Smith after gaining invaluable experience a year ago. Worthy brings athleticism to the diamond and has a chance to fill multiple roles both in the lineup and on the mound. Junior RHP DJ Easom became the teams #3 starter last season and will have a chance to be a fixture in the rotation yet again as he yields experience and strengthens the depth. 2027 RHP/OF Cully Hendley is armed with strong two-way potential and projection as he looks to be a pivotal piece. Junior OF Garrett Brooks also has a chance to compete for a spot in the lineup. For underclass impact it begins with Sophomore RHP Eli Juster who will be looked upon in a bigger role as he rounds out the rotation. Dual-sport athlete and sophomore SS Brodey Hancock holds athleticism throughout and has a chance to take on a starting role at the 6. This is a veteran riddled group who will look to get revenge over Jeff Davis from a year ago and win the 1-A Division 1 region title.
