It has been quite some time since we have expanded our VA/DC Class of 2028 Rankings. Well wait no longer. We are moving from a Top 50 to a Top 75 This class, like others, will cap at the Top 225. While updates happen four times a year, we will gradually add clusters of players twice a year until we reach that 225 player cap. While there is another late fall update, we will not expand from this 75 player total until late winter.
With the expansion comes a lengthy list of new additions to the ranked class. Some moving into the Top 50, and a significant amount of the additions slotting themselves inside of the Top 50. Today we are going to highlight ten of the new faces that are moving into the ranks.
CLASS OF 2028: 10 NEW FACES

Brady Card RHP / 3B / Gainesville High, VA / 2028This summer our staff had our first few looks at Card and he showed some intriguing traits on the mound. It is a lean 6-foot-3, 175-pound frame with a shorter arm action from a lower three-fourths slot. The fastball works in the mid-eighties and has worked up to 88. He has two different breaking balls, with the slider showing late depth and flashes as being a future out pitch. The changeup has late fading and tumbling action that has been shown mostly to left-handed hitters. The movement patterns and the pitch arsenal give an intriguing upside of what the stuff can be as the body matures. |

Logan Carter OF / SS / Riverbend High, VA / 2028Twitch, athleticism, explosiveness, and run tool. Those are some words to describe the Fredericksburg area athlete. Compact frame, above average bat speed, and can really turn the barrel. Middle to pull side tendency in our looks. Gets out of the box well and has the footspeed to impact the game.

Liam Chown 3B / 1B / Ocean Lakes High, VA / 2028XXL frame at 6-foot-7, 195-pounds. Unlike most players that would have this size at this age, Chown moves and organizes himself very well, on the mound and at the plate. The Virginia Beach product has a long and loose arm action on the mound and shows above average arm speed. It is a pretty normal effort delivery and there is plenty of room to add to his current low 80's velo. At the plate it is a fairly simple and repeatable swing. Has some balance in the swing and shows some feel for the barrel. Long term positionally, the size and footspeed will more than likely move him exclusively to first base, but this is a frame that can hold some weight well and could produce an uptick in power potential in his future.

Isaac Elder 3B / OF / Jefferson Forest High, VA / 2028Long and lanky frame at 6-foot-3 and 175-pounds. Corner/corner profile where the run should stay near present or a touch better than it is now. Offensive first profile where the ball tends to come off a little bit different. Heavy barrel and has shown some impact potential from line to line. Taller setup with a medium length through the zone. Level path that tends to be more line drives and doubles type of production. Does not tend to chase power, but with his hand/bat speed and lean strength he can get to it easier than others.

Brandon Han SS / 2B / Great Bridge High, VA / 2028It was a continuous trend for Han this summer, as each time he was in front of our staff, he showed consistent bat-to-ball skills. It is a wiry, athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 150-pounds that still has significant room to add strength. It is a wider base with quiet hands that has shown the ability to turn the barrel and flash some impact to the pull side. While there have been small sample sizes of some impact, it is more of a hit tool approach at the plate. In the infield it is fundamental and fluid footwork with average arm strength. With the present offensive ability, there are more things to look forward to in the future.

Maddox Helsley OF / 3B / Woodberry Forest School, VA / 2028This summer was our first time seeing Helsley in over two years. There were some impressive things that stood out. The first thing that catches your eye is the energy and intent he competes with. At the plate it is above average hand speed, slightly above average bat speed, and rotates extremely well. Above average arm strength in the outfield and has a present average run tool, but that is something we expect to continue to progress as he matures.

Cole Krokus SS / RHP / Floyd Kellam High, VA / 2028Krokus is a guy that jumped out at Top Prospect Games in NOVA this summer. While the footspeed has some room for growth, it is his in game production that stands out most. Medium lift and hangs moving into the swing, late hand separation, and has some loft built into a swing that looks to produce impact. He showed some of that impact at TPG, but also showed extremely well at East Coast Super Sophomore where he had a homerun in game one. Defensively he is a sound defender that translates to 3B/2B more right now and Krokus possesses slightly above average arm strength. He made multiple quality plays at ECSS and showed the ability to stay in the dirt in some capacity. At TPG, Krokus made a big impression on the mound where he filled up the zone with multiple pitches and made quick work of opposing hitters.

Wyatt Liller OF / SS / ATLEE HIGH, VA / 2028Compact frame at 5-foot-9 with proportional strength. Near average run tool that works more left field for now, but as he progresses with the footspeed he could potentially move over to center. Offense first profile that is more line drives, doubles, and hit tool. Hands get a little deeper in load and creates a flatter path through the zone that tends to produce more middle to pull side impact. Liller plays with energy and has some motor to his game that tends to lead to more production in stretches.

Cole Plummer RHP / SS / Highland School, VA / 2028Plummer burst onto the scene this summer, displaying the natural arm talent that he has on the mound. It is a physical 6-foot-2, 192-pound frame that has an ease of operation on the mound. The fastball has been up to 91 in front of our staff but has sat comfortably in the upper eighties in multiple looks. He has shown the ability to land a low seventies breaking ball that has a bigger shape with gradual depth. The changeup is the last pitch in the arsenal that is mostly used to left-handed hitters but does show some promise with some late fading action. It is some significant upside for the future as he continues to mature with the already present arm talent.

Josiah Pulling SS / RHP / Homeschool (VA), VA / 2028Pulling has put together a track record of being a consistent hitter at the plate. He has put quality at-bats together in front of our staff this summer, displaying a hit tool that is line drive driven that works line to line. He brings an aggressive approach that looks to attack any pitch that crosses the plate. Defensively he provides some bounce in the infield with good pace in the infield and average arm strength. It is a compact frame that has some present strength. What you are getting is a high motor that can provide offense.
