Inside the UT Class of 2028 Rankings: Risers

Taylor Berg
Utah Scouting Director

This week, Utah’s updated Class of 2028 rankings went live, now extended through the Top 50. While the top of the list features familiar names, several players made significant jumps with their performances this year.

Today we’re highlighting the biggest risers. Each of these players has taken a step forward in their development, whether through added strength, improved skill sets, or consistent in game production. Their progress has been steady and impactful, pushing them firmly onto the radar as we head into the fall.

Here’s a look at some of the standouts making noise in the latest update.

RANKINGS RISERS 📈

Jason Pintar SS / Spanish Fork, UT / 2028

Jason played an integral role this year Varsity for Spanish, the eventual 5A State Champions. A dynamic athlete and overall ball player with huge upside, he put together an impressive Freshman campaign with over 100 ABs to his resume (.397 AVG/23 H/12 RBI). I anticipate that production will take a considerable uptick this year in a program loaded with talent and winning culture.

Levi Hines C / SS / Corner Canyon, UT / 2028

Levi contains some of the more intriguing physical upside in the Class, especially for his position. An athletic 6’ 175lb frame with room for added growth, he displayed tools that should see him making an impact at the Varsity level sooner rather than later. A live arm with real catch and throw ability (77 velo/1.91-1.97), Levi has elite athleticism behind the plate and hits from both sides. Although stronger and more fluid from the left side, the hit tool plays right handed as well and I highly anticipate following this young man’s development.

Jens Price 3B / 2B / American Fork, UT / 2028

American Fork continues to feature high level talent with every class that comes in, add Jens to that group. The 6’2 175lb Sophomore shows real upside all over the field. He impressed at our Salt Lake Fall ID, although not at his best, displaying a power right handed bat that keeps the hands through contact well and works both gaps. With an athletic frame with long levers and plenty of room to mature physically, I expect a big year from Jens and look forward to how high he can push his ceiling.

Dawson Moore SS / 2B / Provo, UT / 2028

Dawson had one of the more impressive Freshman seasons at the Varsity level this past Spring (106 AB/.395 AVG/5 2B/3 3B/2 HR/21 RBI). Smooth left handed swing with excellent bat to ball skills and a willingness to use the whole field. The IQ stands out and puts him ahead of a lot of his peers situationally, thanks in large part to a HS Head Coach as a Father, and two older brothers who played Collegiate Baseball.

Kash Sissener RHP / OF / Parowan, UT / 2028

Small town or not, Kash can flat out play. The 6’2 170lb right hander really displayed potential on the mound at our Preseason All State last Spring. High leg lift that sees a long arm windup behind that shortens to the ear prior to rotation, and extends well out front. The development has been steady since that point and the FB has been up to 88 to my knowledge, would not be shocked if he has been higher. With a frame you can see continuing to mature physically, and a skillset that expects to develop further with plenty of Varsity baseball ahead, I am excited to follow Kash the next few years!

Hudson Wright SS / 2B / Dixie, UT / 2028

Saint George is loaded with talent every year and Hudson is one of those exciting Sophomores going into 2026. With 19 Varsity games under his belt, the R/R middle infielder showed promise this past season and expects to be a major contributor next season for Coach Nyberg. The Flyers are always in the playoff mix for the 4A Class, and Hudson’s bat and defensive prowess will play key roles in the team’s success.

Macoy Webb 1B / LHP / Timpview, UT / 2028

Present physicality and competitive edge are the themes with Macoy. The L/L Timpview transfer stands to make a big impact for the T-Birds next season. Above average physical tools for the class, his swing and intent to do damage offensively stand out. His consistent ability to elevate baseballs and carry the gaps, mixed with continued work and minor tweaks to cut down swing and miss should see Macoy significantly increase his production. The 6 '1 200lb Sophomore displays intriguing upside and will be a must follow in 2026.

Taven Lancaster C / OF / Provo, UT / 2028

Taven showed all the tools of a future high level Varsity player, that future may be this year I might add. 5 '9 165lbs, I anticipate continued physical maturity if he is to be anything like his Father or family, and if that happens Taven may turn into a top player for the class. Above average catch and throw skills, with plus athleticism behind the plate and in the OF. Versatile defender and productive offensive talent, the combination should see Taven on a steady climb of progression throughout his career.

Treyson Sotelo C / 3B / Skyridge, UT / 2028

Treyson is a two-sport athlete (FB/Baseball) and an excellent defender behind the plate. The 5’11 175lb physical sophomore has a complimentary offensive and defensive game. Mature approach at the plate with a strong arm in the low to mid 80s with room for added growth. In the Skyridge system with Coach Roberts, you can count on Treyson continuing to develop and improve and with his skillset and physicality, I am eager to see if he gets a chance at the Varsity level which is loaded for the Falcons in 2026.

Tait Caldwell 1B / RHP / Bountiful, UT / 2028

Tait did not get a chance to attend a PBR event this Summer, but I happened to see him compete on a few occasions and he produced every time. Consistent approach offensively from the left side, he keeps things simple at the plate and puts the ball in play. I expect the physical maturation and overall game to continue to trend upwards in Coach Curtis’ program at Bountiful. He has shown relentless competitiveness and plays the game with a passion, I look forward to following Tait’s career.
