West Coast Super Sophomore Games
Quick Hits - Oregon
INF Micah Burrell (Wells)
A newly-elevated player into the top ten for Oregon's 2028 player rankings, Burrell's strong game was on display in Eugene from the jump this weekend. Smoother swing from the left side showcased a flatter approach in BP rounds, driving balls over 300 feet at his best. The 7.1 runner showcased sound defensive actions with developing arm strength. In-game, Burrell reached base multiple times, highlighted by a line drive the other way in his final game on Sunday.
INF Sunny Corpus (Aloha)
Corpus put together several quality at-bats in early game action while flashing plenty of potential with the glove as well. Defensively, Corpus showed some range up the middle with a quicker fire release. The righthanded bat is more contact-over-power at this stage, but did drive balls up to 319 feet in BP rounds. The offensive highlight was a single pulled through the left side, doing a nice job staying on top of a high pitch with a flatter, direct hand path to contact.

INF Evan Guadalupe (Summit)
Another top-ten talent on display this weekend, Guadalupe delivered one of the biggest hits of the weekend with a barrelled two-run triple at PK Park deep into the right-center field gap. The Summit product showcased his speed well to stretch the triple, building on his new-best 7.17 second 60-yard dash time posted during the workout portion of the event. Guadalupe also opened eyes with his arm strength during the workout with throws up to 87 MPH across the infield. The righty is a name to circle in the Oregon '28 class.
LHP Ryker Hartlaub (Summit)
After filling up the strike zone at PNW State Games earlier this summer, Hartlaub put together another great outing on the mound in Eugene. The 6'2 lefty pounded the zone with a FB sitting 79-81 MPH and topping at 82.4 MPH. The 3/4 slot release gives some sink to the FB and a CH mixed in, to pair with two distinct breaking balls as well. Hartlaub is a high floor starting pitcher-type with upside as well moving forward.
OF/RHP Beau Johnson (Wilsonville)
The versatile two-way talent faced some mixed results but still flashed a ton of upside throughout his showcase this weekend. A twitchy, compact-framed athlete, Johnson's 6.9 second speed was on display in the outfield, paired with a new-best 86 MPH throw in the workout. The lefty bat can also drive the ball to all fields, posting exit velocities into the low-90's. On the mound, the FB was thrown up to 82.5 MPH with developing command, with a low-70's breaking ball mixed in as his main secondary. Johnson already had varsity run by the end of his freshman season and should be an impact player atop the lineup in 2026.
OF Noah Martin (Clackamas)
The Clackamas lefty offers an intriguing profile in the outfield and set several new-bests metrically to go alongside production in-game. At the plate, Martin stays tall with a tighter hand path, catching the ball out front with exit velocities up to 89.8 MPH. The 7.27 second runner showcased developing arm strength with longer strides in the outfield. Martin reached base multiple times in gameplay, displaying a patient, controlled approach with feel for the zone. Name to follow.
OF Sam Smith (Central Catholic)
The top-ranked 2028 player in Oregon, Smith was all over the in-game box scores after a stellar workout on Friday as well. The plus athlete profiles well in center with an event-best 6.71 60-yard dash time posted. The plus defense is paired with a plus arm for his age as well, with 88 MPH throws from the outfield. At the plate, the lefty features a smooth, loose-wristed stroke, pulling his hands in tight to turn through contact. Smith also had lightning quick batspeed, with a best swing of 84.6 MPH and a best exit velocity of 93 MPH. Smith's game three was arguably his best in-game performance, with a walk, single, sac fly and 2 RBI on offense. Must-follow.

RHP/1B Danner Wertz (Roseburg)
A physical 6'4, 240 pound two-way player, Wertz used his natural strength well over the weekend. At the dish, Wertz featured a controlled stroke with a flatter path, posting a peak exit velocity of 95.4 MPH. The 1B-only type defensively had 78 MPH throws across the diamond. On the mound, Wertz showcased a lower-spin arsenal, featuring a FB up to 80.3 MPH and a CB/SL offspeed combination. The Roseburg product could make a real impact as he continues to develop into 2026.
