With the summer behind us and the 2026 State Rankings being released at the end of last month, we’re taking a look at some of the top uncommitted players within this update. Let's take a look at the top 10 uncommitted catchers in the 2026 class.

Keenan Donaldson C / 2B / New Trier, IL / 2026Rankings StateRank: 84 / POS: 11
From 7/22/25: “2025 Senior Future Games: C Keenan Donaldson (New Trier, 2026) emerged as a high follow at the West Suburban ID earlier this spring, and he continues to establish himself as one of the top backstops in the state down here at the Senior Future Games. Listed at a muscle-bound 5-foot-11, 180-pounds, there’s loud tools across the board, starting with strength in his right-handed bat. He was all over the barrel in his round with a peak EV of 99.2 mph, averaging 94 mph throughout - also averaging 22.3 mph for his hand-speed and 77.2 mph for his bat-speed. He took a clean round of defense behind the plate, showing off plenty of arm-strength (T80 mph) and a quick/clean transfer (1.82 pop-time). On top of all that, he’s also a 6.93 runner in the 60.” |

From 8/05/25: “+ C Nolan Kendall (Andrew, 2026) had a great week with the bat, finishing 4-for-5 against some of the toughest arms in attendance. He still has plenty of room to add on strength to his lean and wiry frame, and he’s a well above-average athlete that also hits left-handed. Intriguing profile with his best days still ahead.” |

Asher Cantu C / OF / O'Fallon, IL / 2026Rankings StateRank: 124 / POS: 15
From 8/05/25: “+ C Asher Cantu (O’Fallon, 2026) finished the event going 2-for-3 in the final game. Lean 6-foot-4, 208-pound frame with room to add strength. The left-handed hitter operates from a wide base with no stride. Compact swing that is long through the zone with pull-side power while having a gap-to-gap approach. Cantu posted a max exit velocity of 102 mph during the workout portion of the event. The catcher connected on a double to the right-center gap and then followed up with a line drive to center field for a single in his final at-bat. Cantu produced at the plate all Spring and continued to shine at the plate during the event.” |

From 10/13/24: “C Colin Quinn (St. Rita) provided a polished round of batting practice where he was on the barrel for line drives up the middle. A 5-foot-10, 181-pound frame with some present strength, Quinn averaged 86 mph exit velocities while peaking at 93.7 mph. He showed above-average bat speed, averaging 70.8 mph. The defensive portion of his workout is noteworthy, recording the highest catcher velocity on throws down to second at 79 mph, while also tallying a 2.01 pop time.” |

He reached an eye-opening 108 mph for his peak EV in the workout, averaging 96 mph with a max distance of 420’. He showed the same power in gameplay with a compact, quick swing with intent to lift, leaving the yard to his pull-side. 6-foot-2, 192-pound frame.” |

From 2/22/25: “C John Bazula (Prospect, 2026) and OF Luke Tingley (Lincoln-Way Central, 2026) are a couple juniors to know with an impressive power/speed combination - with Bazula cruising to a 6.87 with a 100 mph max EV, and Tingley recording a 6.85 in the 60 and 98 mph peak EV.” |

Zach Ohlund C / 3B / Wilmington, IL / 2026Rankings StateRank: 196 / POS: 24
From 8/05/25: “+ C Zach Ohlund (Wilmington, 2026) is a physical right-handed hitter to know from the event. He had one of the louder rounds of BP for the entire event, standing at a strong 5-foot-11, 236-pounds. He averaged 89.8 mph in batting practice, maxing out at 98.3 mph, and posted a max batted ball distance of 383 feet (avg. 286 feet). Ohlund’s barrel strength also carried over into gameplay where he was on the barrel multiple times, while also showing a motor on the basepaths. An uncommitted name to follow moving forward.” |

From 8/05/25: “+ C Mario Medina (Mount Carmel, 2026) would present a physical right-handed bat throughout the event. During batting practice sported a max exit velocity of 100.4 mph and an average of 93.6 mph, with three balls hit over 97 mph and a hard hit rate of 80%. A controlled, aggressive at the plate, Medina showed pull-side tendencies and some present feel to create loft in his swing. Finished gameplay 2-for-6 with a double, an RBI, a run scored, and a walk. Showed fringy actions behind the plate with confident hands, some flexibility, and catch-and-throw that produced poptimes as low as 2.06-seconds during the workout. Strong 5-foot-9, 194-pound frame.” |

From 5/20/25: “Uncommitted. 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame with room to add strength. Started behind the plate and hit out of the three-hole. Knoedler had quite the game on Tuesday as he went 3-for-4 at the plate. The right-handed hitter operates from a bent, balanced base with a toe-tap. Strong hands from a compact swing with an uphill bat path. Long through the zone with some whip. Showed a whole field approach with some power to come. Connected on three singles throughout the game on Tuesday. In his first at bat, he sent a ball back up the middle. Followed up in his second at bat with a single into left field. His third at bat was a flyout to right field. In his final at bat, he connected on a single into right field. Smooth receiver behind the plate.” |
