MPB Fall Classic Quick Hits 9/19
September 20, 2025
The MPB Fall Classic kicked off last night at the Homefield Baseball Complex with the first round of pool play, and the talent was on full display with some strong performances to open the tournament.
+OF/1B Keelan Zumwalt (Summit Christian, MO, 2028) turned heads not only with his 6-foot-4, 200-pound frame, but also with the way he swung the bat. The No. 4 nationally ranked outfielder showcased his advanced hit tool going 4-5 with a homer, two doubles and a triple in and five RBIs in two games. Already one of the most sought-after prospects in the 2028 class, Zumwalt continues to rise with a 104 MPH max exit velocity and a 90 MPH fastball from the left side. Poised and disciplined in the box, he never gives away an at-bat — a rare blend of raw talent and maturity.

+ SS/RHP Gabriel Escobar (Shawnee Heights, KS, 2028) put together a strong performance with 2 hits and 2 RBIs. A sparkplug at the top of the lineup, Escobar is one of the most reliable shortstops in the state. A 6.5 runner with a high-80s arm, size is no factor for this gamer. On the mound, he runs his fastball into the mid-to-high 80s with solid arm-side run and pairs it with a sharp, frisbee-like slider.

+ SS/RHP Krue Patrick (Staley, MO, 2028) was locked in at the plate, collecting four hits in two games. One of the top infield prospects in the country, Patrick recently climbed to No. 75 overall and No. 4 among third basemen in the 2028 class. A blend of speed and power, he boasts a 6.6 60-yard dash and nearly 100 mph max exit velocity—both on display as he racked up 11 total bases in two games.

+ RHP/1B Luke McKenna (Shawnee Mission South, KS, 2028), best known for his work on the mound, showed off the bat in this one. The No. 1 ranked player in Kansas brings an imposing 6-foot-6, 200-pound frame and knows how to use it. McKenna finished with two doubles, a home run, and six RBIs on the night.

+ C/RHP Austin Ritter (Saint Peters, MO, 2029) put his strength on display, driving in 3 runs with a triple to left-center. At 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, he features a tall, narrow setup with an easy glide into a violent swing—leaving no doubt about his intentions at the plate. Ritter showed patience throughout the game, and when he pulled the trigger, he made every swing count.
