Grand Park Fall Championships: Draft Follows and Uncommitted Talent

Cooper Trinkle
Scouting Director

The Grand Park Fall Championships offers a college staff, and area pro scouts, a one-stop-shop for evaluations that is unmatched by any event running simultaneous, with some of the Midwests' top high school talent at this event that runs in conjuction with the Puma Classic, a premier junior college event going on at Grand Park at the same time. Over 200 schools were represented at this event, with several professional scouts on hand, and our staff, along with the help of neighboring states' staff members, were present and focused on promoting the top talent.

Our staff dug into the top underclass talent, found here, with a list of forty uncommitted '27s found at this link.

To put a bow on our post event coverage, we now dig into some draft follows for next spring, along with 15 seniors that remain uncommitted to this point who stood out throughout the weekend.

Cream of the Crop

+ Amongst the hitters in attendance, the highest-profile were: 3B Aiden Reynolds (IN), OF Dominic Battista (IL), and OF Rob Czarniecki (IN). Reynolds brought plenty of buzz and heat to Grand Park, clubbing a pair of extra-base hits on Day 1 including a no-doubt homer. He looked the part of a premier bat to know with a physical, athletic look at 6-foot-1, 200-pounds - and while the R/R profile of a 3B is not necessarily the most polarizing, Reynolds' hit tool is just about as polished as any in the Midwest. A recent riser in Illinois '26 class is Battista, a UIC recuit who brings wiry strength in a 6-foot, 175-pound frame, who has taken to Grand Park quite well in 2025 while hitting every time he passes through. He was one of my favorite hitters at the 17u ABC, and followed suit with strong performances across the Fall Championships. The twitch he brings to the top of the lineup allows him to impact the baseball, while playing within his approach to lace balls head high to all fields. His game is elevated by plus foot speed that shows up consistently due to his aggressive motor that leads him to play hard at all times. Finally, Czarniecki found a pair of hits in three games played, highlighted by a pullside double where his wrist/barrel strength was on full display.

+ Another Illinois riser in their August update, 3B/RHP Kaeden Schatsiek, stood out continously, and now also stands as one of the top uncommitted players that the Midwest has to offer for 2026. His 6-foot-4 imposing frame jumps out immediately and he took little time to announce his presence, hammering a 105 mph extra-base hit on night one that summed up the power potential he holds quite well. There is some boom-or-bust in the rotational-nature of the swing, but there is a real chance for plus raw power here with polish likely for the young-for-class 2026. He hopped on the bump later in the weekend for a powerful look, though the command did waver a bit. The physical right-hander brings a clean look, bumping 88-91 with a true ride profile that got plenty of whiffs over the heart of the plate. He mixed a short, bullet-type slider at 78-80 that tunneled well with the high-ride fastball. It is likely a 'pen profile on that side, but the frame - mixed with real raw power and arm strength, makes him a no-doubt follow for next spring.

+ My favorite watches on the mound from this class were LHP Beckett Doane and RHP Collin Marcum, two Indiana natives that provided positive looks in comparison to early outings in 2025. Doane, the state's top left-hander and a Mississippi State recruit, dominated in a two-inning stint. The 6-foot-6, 220-pounder attacks from a wide, low 3/4 slot that seamingly comes from RCF - pumping 88-90 heaters that blew away opposing hitters for several swings-and-misses. Doane spun it better than I had seen for most of 2025 - ripping 78-81 sliders for strikes that spun north of 2500. Marcum on the other hand, came out much firmer that when I saw him at the MPL earlier in the summer, touching 93 early before settling in at 89-92. The fastball command was sporadic in this look, using it more as a strikeout pitch late to try and blow by hitters, and he pitched off a 78-81 (2400) slider for most of the outing. He could land, and get chase with, the slider, but he did show at least a 50 CH in the mid-80s that looks the part of a real weapon. An Indiana recuit who is very young for the class, and brings a highly-projectable, athletic frame - Marcum feels like a certain helium candidate for next spring with a real chance to polish and take velo jumps between now and then.
