Future Games Catcher/Outfielder Analysis: Team NorCal

From Wednesday, July 23 to Saturday, July 26th, Prep Baseball hosted the official 2025 Future Games. The best uncommitted talent from the Class of 2027 all met at LakePoint Sports on this day to ignite the start of this special event, as position players were guided through this pro-style workout in front of a sea of over 400 college coaches.
In this post, we’re looking at the scouting reports on every catcher and outfielder from Team NorCal at this year’s 2025 Future Games.
TOP CATCHER/OUTFIELDER PROSPECTS
1. Giovanni Castaing, Novato (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: C Defensive backstop, who pairs aggressive hacks with a solid bat.
Body: 5-9, 175-pounds. Physically strong frame, with noticeable athleticism. Compact build with room for further development.
Hit: RHH. Sets up upright in a balanced stance with a slight crouch. Hands rest at shoulder height with a subtle barrel waggle. Initiates the load by sinking into the back knee as the hands drift slightly, tipping the barrel vertical. Utilizes a small leg kick into a longer stride forward, landing balanced and controlled. Fires hips at foot strike with hands quick to follow, creating strong separation. Stays short to contact with length through the zone, showcasing solid bat speed while working slightly uphill to generate lift and carry up the middle. Flashes pull-side pop while showing ability to drive the ball to all fields.
Power: 96 max exit velocity, averaged 93.0 mph. 366' max distance.
Arm: RH. C-80 mph. Quick, compact arm action working off clean, efficient transfers. Shows present arm speed from a 3/4 slot, producing consistent throws on line to the bag.
Defense: 1.90-2.01 pop times. Demonstrates athleticism behind the plate with a one-knee setup and consistent footwork. Showcases soft hands while receiving and is quick out of the crouch. Solid blocking skills round out a well-balanced defensive profile.
