Quick Hits

+ A pair of 2027s stuck out as the top upperclassmen in attendance in SS Vincent Knipp (FW Bishop Luers) and 1B Jace Pidlisny (Leo). Knipp brought a projectable, athletic look with his wiry, 6-foot-3, 175-pound frame. He stood out most during batting practice, leveraging the baseball pullside with some authority for a couple of batting practice homers. His exits peaked at 93+ with the nature of his swing optimizing contact to get the ball in the air on his best swings. Defensively, Knipp brought a natural, raw-ish look on the dirt with his athleticism leading the operation. The rangy nature of his frame, paired with some foot quickness, allowed him to cover ground laterally and he showed an average arm across. Pidlisny also shined most in batting practice, elevating the ball pullside with some strength in his left-handed barrel. It is a strong, stocky, 6-foot, 190-pound frame that likely has more power than the 90 mph exit velocity he showed on this day.

+ On the 2028 side of things, six players stood out with traits to note. 1B/RHP Noah Gerig (FW Carroll) brought impressive strength for the age during batting practice, backspinning bullets from gap-to-gap with evident barrel strength and a direct path. Gerig's 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame brings noticeable strength with it and he has a chance to continue to refine himself, with a run-producers' upside glaring as he continues to mature. He showed some arm strength on the bump, as well, reaching 79 mph on his heater. I was also impressed with SS Eric Hudson (FW Bishop Dwenger) - who is a quality athlete for the age with a high-waisted, 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame. His athleticism showed on the dirt with some whip to the arm stroke and above average actions. He showed a pull-side approach in batting practice with a flatter path that produced exits at 87-plus.

+ SS Remington McKeever is another Carroll product that caught my eye throughout the day. Undersized for now, McKeever showed well in batting practice with some twitch in a well-sequenced swing, allowing a loose-wristed swing to work on-plane throughout for gap-to-gap line drives. Defensively, the feet are quick with arm strength that is likely going to tick with continued strength/maturity. OF/LHP Frank Tomaszewski (Homestead) posted the most well-rounded day amongst the contigent of 2028 grads, turning in an event-best 7.14 60-yard dash, with some arm strength showing on both sides of the ball and exits that reached a rounded 90 mph from the left-side. The twitch stands out in the lean, 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame. In my evaluation, Tomaszewski brought his highest-ceiling look on the hill, sitting in the mid-70s (T78) from the left-side with a clean look and some feel to spin the baseball.

+ Two more 2028s to note were C/OF Brady James (FW Carroll) and INF/C Will Kunberger (FW Bishop Dwenger). James showed well across the board with solid actions that should be elevated by strength. He showed pops into the 2.1s, while providing a clean look from the right-side during batting practice with line drive contact prevelant and an exit that peaked near-88 mph. Kunberger showed much of the same, solid average defensive actions at multiple positions, while also adding some barrel feel from the left-side in batting practice with an exit that peaked at 87.8 mph.
