Georgia Select 14u Weekend- Quick Hits

Chester Sabin, 3B, 2030, Midland (MI)
Starting in BP, the Michigan product put together a strong showing throughout the weekend for Team Elite. Sabin already displays a physical frame at 6-foot-0, 184-pounds with visible strength throughout. Simple actions at the plate with advanced ability to stay balanced and transfer weight through the zone. Creates leverage with the barrel with ease with present accuracy and impact at contact to drive balls to all-fields. Led the entire event in average (92.3 MPH) and max (98.1) exit velocities in BP. Barrels continued in-game where Sabin attacked mistakes early in the count and picked up extra-base knocks to both LF and RF in the midst of multiple hits across two games. Defense showed well on the left-side of the dirt with good lateral actions and range that was backed by present above-average arm strength.

Wyatt Schuck, SS/2B, 2030, Pope
Schuck did nothing but stand out throughout an excellent weekend for the infielder. Twitchy, athletic 5-foot-11, 170-pounds with some lean muscle already and plenty of projection remaining. Showed immense barrel feel for the class and did so from both sides of the plate both in-game and BP. Compact, uphill path through the zone that keeps the barrel forever in a gap-to-gap approach. Present ability to manipulate the barrel already that really stood out and bullish on the hit tool ceiling going forward. Athletic actions in the dirt with flexibility and soft hands to attack the ball with confidence backed by accuracy in the arm. The profile can be fairly substantial for Schuck and we’re just starting to see the 14-year-old begin to tap into it.

Collin Berry, OF/1B, 2031, Blessed Trinity
The 7th- grader has made a strong impression amongst staff over the past couple of months with another standout showing this past weekend. Athleticism stands out in a wiry 5-foot-8, 143-pound frame. Set the tone for the entire weekend as he led-off the event and barreled mid 80’s backside for a loud standup double. The LHH boasts real bat speed and turns the barrel over in an instant with gap-to-gap strength. Present accuracy in the barrel from a longer swing path and is consistently on time. Explodes out of the box and is a present above-average runner backed by an explosive first step. Good range and routes to the ball in centerfield as well. The quality looks at Berry continue to stack up in each setting with much more to project down the line.

Peyton Brogdon, 2B/C/RHP, 2030, Cambridge
One of the biggest winners across the entirety of the weekend was Brogdon as he provides a strong look on both sides of the ball. Stands an athletic 5-foot-9, 165-pounds with barrel feel and versatility in the dirt. Came through with multiple hits in gameplay as he keeps the barrel in the zone forever backed by present hand speed and feel for the barrel alike. Excellent balance and works short-to-long with easy zone awareness while showing an aptitude to work to all-fields. Brogdon closed out the last game of the event for Team Elite and showed budding pitchability with a 3-pitch mix. Commanded the fastball well with feel to land to either half of the plate in the low 80’s (T82 MPH). Changeup was worked into LHH with arm-side fade and depth for swing-and-miss. Curveball was flipped over with 12/6 depth out of the hand at 57-63.

Grant Dallam, OF, 2030, Wesleyan
Dallam made a strong impression this past weekend as he showed well both offensively and defensively. Lean 5-foot-7, 151-pounds with athleticism throughout. The RHH looks the part of a prototypical lead-off bat as he came through with a flurry of base-hits while reaching base at a high clip. Shows a quick trigger with loose, strong hands while staying balanced as he creates length, and ability to adjust in-zone. Keen eye for the zone stands out with excellent pitch recognition and ability to do damage early or work deep counts in a pull-side oriented approach. Excellent range and instincts with present foot speed in CF with ability to track well. Gamer qualities litter the profile and Dallam will be one we keep eyes on closely over the next couple of years.

Grayson Lightsey, OF, 2030, Campbell
Really good showing from Lightsey across the weekend as he consistently set the tone atop the 643 order. Boasts athleticism and feel to hit in a lean 5-foot-11,155-pound frame. Posted a 3-hit performance during gameplay on Saturday with a trio of pull-side knocks. The LHH creates excellent length as he keeps the barrel in the zone forever with fluid hands and innate bat-to-ball skills to match. Budding hit-tool has a chance to be a carrying tool long-term as he looks to breakthrough and start as a freshman next Spring.

Joe Peyton Moses, SS/RHP, 2030, Union County
It was an impressive look at the all-around profile for Moses across the weekend. Armed with present tools on both sides of the ball and projection in the physical, athletic 5-foot-10, 162-pound frame. Moses would come through with multiple hits in-game as he simply lived on the barrel and gap-to-gap strength stands out. The RHH is a fluid mover through impact with feel to move the barrel around the zone while working from a compact path. Quiet actions pre-pitch and stays simple with budding accuracy in the barrel. Well-leveraged barrel through the zone with feel to manipulate on-plane as well. Looks to do damage early in the count with quality pitch recognition and feel for the zone alike. Showed well on the mound as he displayed a fastball/slider mix and lived in the low 80’s (T83 MPH). The two-way profile will only continue to grow and looks the part of an impact player at Union County for the years to come.

Landry Lewis, MIF, 2030, Pope

The switch-hitter looked the part from both sides of the plate as he picked up multiple barrels in-game. Lean and athletic 5-foot-9, 157-pounds with quality tools to project. Lewis, a mirror image from both sides, utilizes a slight toe-tap load to stay balanced and transfers weight well through impact. Creates excellent separation and barrel length alike with present feel to use the whole field well. The pope pipeline continues to grow and Lewis appears to be one of the next staples for the Greyhounds over the next couple of years.

Andrew Davis, OF/C/RHP, 2030, North Gwinnett
The stringy 6-foot-1, 156-pound OF/C had a great couple days as he put together quality ABs. He gets good extension in the load as the hands coil as well as a solid bottom half that produces quality pop and above average hit ability. In the games, he had a 2 RBI 2B in a 3-1 count on an inner pitch. His quick twitch hands and athleticism allow for full coverage over the dish, depositing the FB down the LF line. Later in the day he got into a 2K count and showed an adjusted look by keeping the hands close and dropped them right down on a good pitch ending in a great AB, ending in a great play by CF for the out. With his skinny look, he has plenty of time to develop into his already large frame. As he matures, he will gain more natural pop to compliment his impressive hit ability.

Logan Moss, RHP/SS, 2029, Social Circle
Moss showed a high competitive look on the mound with a sturdy 5-foot-9 frame. He was given multiple innings of work and induced weak contact multiple times as he attacked batters well. His FB ranged from 74-77 and had natural 2 seam movement to it. His offspeed was a tight SL that moved well from right-to-left, reaching 2200 RPM. He had a plan to keep the ball away from hitters and executed by getting roll overs and weak fly balls, occasionally striking out opposing batters. Moss looks primed to expand and fill out his frame, projecting as a gritty athlete that can make a two-way impact.

Bryce Britt, RHP/OF, 2030, North Forsyth
Standing 6-foot-2, 183-pounds, Britt already has a great mound presence and ability. He uses his whole frame in delivery by getting low into the legs and full extension down the bump. His FB was very heavy at 79-82, averaging 15+ inches of IVB. He complimented this with 3 offspeed offerings, relying on the CB and CH, showing an occasional SL. The CB had tight movement and HZB at 74-76. The CH was highly impressive as it killed spin (consistent sub 980 RPM, touching 743 RPM) and kept hitters off balance at 71-73. The SL was frisbee-like for another option sitting 72-73. There were occasional WP, but as he matures physically and mentally, control is sure to follow.

Oliver Buckert, RHP/OF, 2030, Harrison
Buckert’s large 6-foot-2 frame projects well on the mound as the lanky pitcher showed ability to fight and keep hitters off balance. He relied heavily on the FB at 76-80 that sported natural 2-seam action that got weak contact and jammed RHHs. His best secondary was the SL at 71-73 showing a short cutting action, often playing more like a CT. He mixed in a CH at 70-72 to keep hitters honest. Buckert allowed only a few hard hit balls with most hits being weak bloopers, and many outs came on weak GBs working the bottom half of the zone well. As he continues to grow and trust the zone rather than nibbling at corners, he shows future ability as a P2C piece.

Logan Godsey, OF, 2030, Whitefield
Godsey had a pesky few ABs in the evening games as he showed off a high caliber hit tool. At 5-foot-8, he works well into the legs and has a rotational upper body with his cut producing a long barrel that lives in the zone. His strong lower half starts the swing as the hips lead the way and the hands follow right back towards the pitcher. His first AB came during a productive frame for the squad as he shortened up with 2K and got the hands around a FB for a 1B in the RCF gap. He kept the weight back just long enough and with his smooth pathing, was able to find grass for an RBI knock. His next two ABs were hard fought with a 3-2 BB after fighting off a few pitches and then another BB after some early count aggression. Godsey comes to the dish with a plan and executed it well all weekend long.

Joeby Brumbelow, SS, 2030, South Paulding
It was a weekend of quality swings in both the showcase and games for Brumbelow as he performed well with a few knocks. His quick twitch ability was shown in the box, sporting a cut that shot through the zone with an even bat. He was able to get on top of pitches well, getting the barrel on plane on two standout occasions. Day 1 game he got a hit UTM on a high FB, also boasting good zone feel. Day 2 was more of the same for Brumbelow, fighting off a handful of pitches to then punish a middle-up FB in the oppo gap (LCF) with 2Ks on him. Brumbelow projects as a highly gritty bat that can line it all over the field in any count.

Sawyer Bolemon, SS/2B, 2030, Southside Christian (SC)
Bolemon had a solid weekend, impacting the game on both sides of the diamond. He took some really good swings and rarely swung through anything in the zone. Quiet in the box, he has a direct path to the baseball and the ability to find the barrel. He uses a leg kick and generates strength from the ground up, showing present bat speed with an all-fields approach. Defensively, he offers versatility with a good glove and an above-average arm. He stays engaged in the game and does a good job communicating with teammates. Expect Boleman to add strength to his frame and continue to get better with experience.

Luke Rohlfs, 3B/RHP, 2030, Mount Paran
Really good showing from Rohlfs this weekend on the mound and at the plate this weekend. At the plate, he showed power to all fields with a heavy barrel throughout the zone. He looks to do damage early in the count and does not get cheated on his swings. The two-strike approach is solid, as he shortens up and tries to move the baseball. He uses a toe-tap load with strength in the lower half and shows present bat speed through the zone. On the mound, he attacked the zone with a firm fastball that was 78–80 with arm-side run. The pitchability stood out, as he showed the ability to locate any pitch for a strike. The curveball has good depth, and he does a good job mixing it in. The changeup has good movement, and the arm action stays consistent with the fastball. Does a good job mixing arm angles and keeping hitters off balance. Expect Rohlfs to make an impact as a two-way player.

Carson Crum, OF/1B, 2030, Saint James (AL)
Crum was impressive this weekend. At 6-foot-0, 171 pounds, he shows power to all fields with more still to be tapped into. He utilizes a leg kick and gets off good swings in the zone, looking to do damage early in the count and hit for power to the pull side. He is a good runner who can go get it in the outfield. The arm is very good for his age, and he does a good job working to be in the right spot. With more experience, he could really start to see success hitting for power to all fields. The overall toolset points to a player who should continue trending up as he adds strength and refines the approach. Expect Crum to be a power hitter who can impact the game in multiple ways.

Sawyer Campbell, SS/RHP, 2031, North Oconee
Campbell made a strong impression this weekend on the mound and at the plate. On the mound, he worked 80–84 mph with the fastball, showing late life and ride in the zone. The curveball was sharp, with late break and the ability to land it for strikes or generate chases. The delivery is clean from an over-the-top slot, and the metrics on both the fastball and curveball are very advanced for his age. The stuff is already very good and continues to trend upward. At the plate, he shows power to all fields with consistent barrel accuracy. There is strength in the lower half, paired with really good bat speed throughout the zone. Expect Campbell to thrive as a two-way player. The athleticism and overall feel for the game stand out on both sides of the ball.

Mark Tow, 1B/RHP, 2030, North Cobb Christian
Tow has a big frame at 5-foot-11, 225 pounds and had a really solid weekend on both sides of the ball. He threw a good game on the mound, showing durability and stamina as he was able to go deep into his outing, working with a fastball up to 75 mph that he complemented with a nice curveball he could spin and locate well, while also mixing in a changeup. At the plate, Tow had nice at-bats all weekend long, posting a max exit velocity of 87.5 mph and driving the ball 320 feet, showing off his strength and power. Overall, a strong performance for Tow, and he should continue to gain feel for his pitches as he keeps developing.

Grant Benjamin, RHP/3B, 2030, Cliff Valley High School
Benjamin had a nice outing on the mound for SmarTense on Saturday, showing a good feel for his arsenal throughout. He showcased a fastball with late life through the zone, getting up to 80 MPH and sitting 75-78, making it tough on hitters. He also mixed in a curveball with an average spin rate of 2154 RPM, showing the ability to spin it and keep hitters off balance. He works with a loose, whipping delivery that can add deception. Overall, a solid performance on the mound, and as he continues to develop and refine his stuff, there’s a lot to like with how it all plays.

Landon Pierce, 2B/SS, 2030, Cherokee County High School
Pierce shows an athletic frame with plenty of room to continue developing and put together a solid all-around showing. At the plate, he works with a strong lower half that translates well through the swing, producing an explosive barrel with consistent gap-to-gap contact, and he recorded a max exit velocity of 83 mph. He shows the ability to get the barrel through the zone with intent while maintaining control, giving him a reliable contact profile. Defensively, Pierce is a smooth mover in the field, showing versatility playing both second base and shortstop, with quick twitch actions and the ability to make plays consistently. Overall, there is a lot to like with his athleticism and feel for the game, and as he continues to develop physically and refine his tools, the upside is there for him.

Knox Braun, OF/RHP, 2030, Cambridge
Braun showed the ability to perform on the mound and at the plate. On the mound, he sat 84–86 with late life and ride in the zone. He is an athletic mover down the mound with a loose arm and really good velocity. He attacked the zone and recorded five strikeouts over two innings. The CB showed good depth with late action out of the zone. At the plate, he looks to do damage early in the count and does not get cheated. He has an open stance with good balance in the lower half and premium bat speed throughout the zone. Expect Braun to have a chance to be a two-way star who can affect the game in multiple ways. The overall athleticism and feel for the game stand out, giving him a high ceiling as he continues to develop.
