Scouting Report
Lucas toes the rubber at a projectable 6-foot, 162 pounds, featuring a strong arm with clean action and an average release height over 6 feet. He works primarily out of the stretch, starting closed with a slight coil through leg lift before moving into a compact, efficient delivery. Lucas hides the ball well, enhancing the effectiveness of his FB/SL combination.
The fastball shows hop and ride through the zone from a tough high three-quarter slot. His primary off-speed offering is a slurve-style slider with up to 6 inches of drop and 8 inches of horizontal break, generating plenty of whiffs thanks to its movement profile and near-identical release to the fastball. As the changeup continues to develop, Lucas projects as a high-follow arm in the class.
