Tuesday

Newnan @ Carrollton

Score: Carrollton win, 18-8

Standouts:

Kaleb Binion, 1B/OF, 2026, Carrollton

Lane Bell, 2B/C, 2026, Carrollton

Haydenn Downes, OF, 2027, Carrollton

Evan Moody, OF/RHP, 2026, Carrollton

Caleb Hudson, OF, 2027, Carrollton

Reid Davis, C, 2026, Newnan

Key Moments:

After a back-and-forth 7-4 first inning in favor of Carrollton, the offense never slowed down as they scored 5+ runs in 3 of the first 4 innings. 2027 OF Haydenn Downes put the finishing touches on the night with a loud pull-side HR in the 4th.

Ian’s Takeaway:

I was there early for BP pre-game and the bats looked dialed for the Trojans, sure enough that carried over into gameplay. 8 of the 9 in the starting with at least 1 hit including Kaleb Binion, Lane Bell, Evan Moody and Ty Sabo who all picked up 2+ a piece. Carrollton was aggressive on the base paths all night long and consistently took advantage of any mistakes throughout. Tough opening night for the defending 5A State Champions, who open the year a little banged on the offensive side. Good at-bats throughout the night from Reid Davis and Brodie Campbell though with plenty of time to right the ship.

North Oconee @ Marist

Score: North Oconee win, 5-4

Standouts:

Landyn Dykes, C, 2026, North Oconee

Peyton Little, OF, 2026, North Oconee

Wyatt Bull, RHP, 2026, North Oconee

Sean Walsh, SS, 2026, Marist

Roshan Bullard, 1B, 2026, Marist

Brady Barry, LHP, 2026, Marist

Key Moments:

It was all North Oconee early on behind a 2026 C Landyn Dykes 2-run HR in the top of the 1st and a solo HR from 2026 OF Peyton Little in the top of the 3rd to stretch the lead to 3-0. 2026 RHP Wyatt Bull gave the Titans 4.0 shutout innings. Dykes would also add an RBI double in the top of the 5th. Marist came storming back in the 5th with big RBI knocks from 2026 SS Sean Walsh and 2026 1B Roshan Bullard. 2026 LHP Brady Barry was locked in out of the bullpen and tossed huge innings to keep Marist in it. The War Eagles would carry a 1-run deficit heading into the 7th where Bullard would hammer an RBI double off the LCF Wall to tie it up at 4-4 and send it to extras. The monster game for Dykes would continue in the top of the 8th as he jumped on the first pitch he saw for the solo HR. 2027 RHP Patrick Hassan closed things out in the 8th to send the Titans home with the victory.

Avery’s Takeaway:

North Oconee was ready for the moment early on and was led by a massive performance from 2026 C Landyn Dykes (3-for-4 with 2 HR’s, 2B, and 4 RBI). Other main focal points of the offense were 2026 OF Peyton Little (solo HR) and 2026 SS Connor O’Mara (2 hits, including a triple). 2026 RHP Wyatt Bull shut down Marist early across 4 shutout innings pitched and was up to 93. Marist didn’t go away though and was powered by a 2 RBI 3B from 2026 SS Sean Walsh in the 5th and an RBI single from Roshan Bullard as well to cut the lead to 4-3. 2026 LHP Brady Barry did an excellent job of tossing quality innings out of the pen to get his lineup a shot and that’s exactly what happened. Bullard came through in the bottom of the 7th with a ringing double off the wall to send it to extras tied. Dykes was a man on a mission though and sent a towering shot into RCF for the go-ahead solo shot and for the win. It was an early season look at 2 teams in the Power 25 as they both look to remain as fixtures in 4A.

Monday

Blessed Trinity @ Pope

Score: Blessed Trinity win, 5-2

Standouts:

Joseph Contreras, RHP, 2026, Blessed Trinity

Gavin Greene, C, 2028, Blessed Trinity

Nick Bobrowski, LHP, 2026, Pope

Kingston Jones, MIF, 2028, Pope

Bradyn Oblas, OF, 2027, Blessed Trinity

Key moments

A five-run 4th inning for the Titans ultimately was the deciding factor. Bradyn Oblas with a big 2-run 2B as one of the biggest swings of the night.

Ian’s Takeaway:

A strong season opener for the defending 4A State Champions. While replacing multiple starters, BT looked ready for the moment. Joseph Contreras up to 98 with a full swing-and-miss mix ready to roll. Nick Bobrowski with 6 K over 3.0 IP for the Greyhounds. Pope loaded the bases with no outs on back-to-back innings but key defensive plays and strong relief arms only limited the Greyhound to just 1 run. Both teams will be in the mix once again this spring.

Opening Day Rivalries

Cambridge @ Milton

Score: Cambridge win, 2-1

Standouts:

Gavin Gebhardt, RHP, 2028, Cambridge

Ethan Rasper, RHP, 2027, Cambridge

Jacob Sherrill, LHP, 2028, Milton

Ethan Herrington, OF, 2027, Cambridge

Jackson Haug, RHP, 2026, Milton

Key moments:

Lagrange commit, Will Degenhard gets the Bears on the board with an RBI single.

It was a back and forth pitchers duel for the majority of the game and Ethan Herrington ended up coming through with the game winning RBI single in the top of the 7th. Ethan Rasper was excellent out of the pen and shut the door in the 7th to clinch the win.

Hudson’ Takeaway:

One can never go wrong with a cross town rivalry to open the season. Both Milton and Cambridge had a good mix of upperclass and underclass names throughout the line up. The Gavin Gebhardt vs Caelen Frederick match up was something I was really looking forward to. Both offenses were quiet with only 2 hits throughout the entire game. Jackson Haug and Gavin Gebhardt were both great in their starts, but both bullpen performances were what really stood out to me. Jacob Sherrill is an intriguing sophomore arm that made quick work of the Bears offense. Ethan Rasper kept the tie in check and gave the offense a chance in the 7th where Ethan Herrington came through with the game winning hit. These will be 2 teams I will definitely check back in on to see guys like Sebastian Peralta more for Cambridge and get more looks at Frederick for the Eagles.

Landmark Christian @ Trinity Christian

Score: Landmark Christian win, 6-5

Standouts

Jackson Lee, 3B/RHP, 2028, Landmark Christian

Evan Osterman, SS/RHP, 2026, Trinity Christian

Taylor Casson, RHP/OF, 2026, Landmark Christian

Jake Anderson, 1B, 2026, Trinity Christian

Zazil Schoop, OF, 2027, Trinity Christian

Elliot Nadreau, C, 2028, Landmark Christian

Key moments:

It was a back and forth affair all night long as Jackson Lee kickstarted the offense with a clutch 2-out knock to open the scoring for Landmark in the bottom of the first to make it 2-0. Evan Osterman delivered a massive swing in the third inning with a 2-run bomb as Trinity would tack on 2 more runs as well to make it 4-2. Landmark took advantage of a couple defensive miscues and walks to tie it back up at 4-4 then ultimately took the lead at 5-4. Elliot Nadreau took one of the biggest swings of the night with an RBI Sac Fly to make it 6-4 in the 6th for a much needed insurance run. Zazil Schoop added an RBI knock to cut the deficit to 6-5 in the 7th. Jackson Lee was able to maneuver his way through 3-innings of 1-run ball to slam the door and take the win for Landmark Christian.

Avery’s Takeaway:

The Landmark Christian War Eagles opened the season with a bang as they took down their rivals for the first time in 8 years. Both starters (Taylor Casson) (Evan Osterman) were up to the task and kept their teams in it as Casson was up to 94. Jackson Lee (Reached all 4 times), Niles Redrick (2R), and Taylor Casson were the focal points of the offense as Lee tossed massive innings out of the pen as well. Evan Osterman (2-run HR) and Jake Anderson (2 H) powered the Trinity Christian offense but came up just short. Both these squads appear poised to be in the mix as Trinity will look to avenge its early season loss on March 2nd.
