Summer Update Missouri Uncommitted Spotlight: 2027 Catchers

Prep Baseball Missouri Staff

With the release of the latest update to our state rankings for the 2027 class, it’s a great time to take a closer look at some of the top uncommitted prospects in the class. Only a few months have passed since recruiting restrictions were lifted on the 2027s as they began their junior years, so there are numerous big names left on the board. Over the next few days, our staff will highlight five of the top prospects at each position, with a short breakdown of each athlete. First, we'll look at the state's top five uncommitted catchers in the class.

Carson Leuthauser C / 3B / Eureka, MO / 2027

Leuthauser is a strong, physical backstop with the power numbers across the board to match. At the plate, we've seen him put up eye-catching EV numbers, topping out at 103.2 mph. Defensively, he's got a good arm, throwing it down at 82 mph.

Andrew Maultsby C / SS / Staley, MO / 2027

Maultsby is one of the best athletes behind the dish in his class not just in the state but in the country. At the plate, he's put down EV's in the upper 90s, while throwing it down at 85 mph, good for a 1.83 pop time. He's also a plus runner, clocking a 6.61 in the 60.

Luke McAtee C / OF / De Smet Jesuit, MO / 2027

McAtee grabbed some attention this summer at the Future Games, picking up a game MVP honor as part of an impressive week all around. Numbers wise, we've seen McAtee put down pop times below 1.90, and exit velocities north of 96 mph.

Rowan Johnson C / RHP / Nixa, MO / 2027

Johnson is a physical prospect, with some solid present power. At the plate, we've seen him produce exit velocities as high as 96.4 mph. Defensively, he's put down pop times as low as 1.88, with nice arm strength, throwing it down at 80 mph.

Blake Hollrah C / 1B / Orchard Farm, MO / 2027

Hollrah is a physical bat with legitimate middle of the lineup potential as he continues to develop. Standing at 6'3, his imposing frame leaves plenty of room for projection as he adds some more strength.
